What information is Youbet required to give the IRS concerning
account activity?
In accordance with IRS laws, any wager resulting in winnings of $600.00
or more must be reported to the Internal Revenue Service, if the amount of winnings
is at least 300 times the amount wagered (normally only pick-6 and trifecta wagers).
In addition any wager resulting in winnings over $5,000.00, is subject to reporting
and withholding if the amount of winnings is at least 300 times the amount wagered.
All winnings subject to reporting and/or withholding
shall be reported and/or withheld by Youbet.com and a
copy of the W2-G Form summarizing the information shall
be sent to you for tax filing purposes.
Multiple Wagers
For multiple wagers sold on one ticket, such as the $12
box bet on a Big Triple or Trifecta, the wager is considered
as six $2 bets and not one $12 bet for purposes of computing
the amount to be reported or withheld. Winnings on a $12 box
bet must be reported if they are $600 or more, and federal
income tax must be withheld if the proceeds total more than
$5,000 or, if the proceeds do not exceed $5,000, if the
recipient fails to provide a TIN.
Identical Wagers
Winnings from identical wagers (for example, two $2 bets
on a particular horse to win the same race) are added
together for purposes of the reporting and withholding
requirements. Also, winnings from identical wagers that are
not part of the payment for which the Form W-2G is being
prepared are added together for purposes of withholding to
determine if the total amount of proceeds from identical
wagers is more than $5,000.
You may
visit the IRS website to review these regulations in
greater detail.
Will there be any documentation for online wagering that the
IRS will accept for losing tickets, to be balanced against winning tickets when
there are signers?

calendar year. Statements will be emailed to the you.
There is no charge for this service. These reports are

Is technical help available?
Technical help is available daily from 7:00 a.m. - 7:00
p.m. PT. by calling Player Services at 1-888-968-2388.
Do you support Cable Modems, ISDN, ADSL, and T-1?
Yes. Connection speed is dependent on your access provider.
What type of security does Youbet use?
Youbet.com utilizes cutting edge security techniques, making our services more secure
than most banking institutions.
What are some unique features of the security system?
Youbet.com employs the latest cutting edge technology to ensure the highest level
of security possible. Youbet.com utilizes a multi-layered approach to security,
by implementing tight controls over communications and servers, eliminating
the risk of hackers penetrating the system. Youbet.com uses packet filters, firewalls,
and proxy servers to tightly control data allowed to enter the Data Center. Packet
sniffing is then used to monitor all network communications within the data center
to search for illicit use. Lastly, all Data Center communications to
host tracks are
protected with hardware encryption devices, employing triple DES encryption.
What are packet filters?
Computers send information to each other bundled in packets. Packet filters prevent
unwanted systems from communicating with the Youbet.com Data Center, while still
allowing Youbet members to freely connect.
What is a firewall?
A firewall is a special server dedicated to filtering all data transmitted, allowing
certain data to pass and dropping all other data. Rules designate what data can
be transmitted and what cannot. Youbet.com rules allow all
members to freely
connect and use the system, while stopping hackers cold.
What is a proxy server?
A proxy server takes the filtering of data communication to the next level by looking
at each type of data and deciding whether this information should be allowed through
or not.
What is packet sniffing?
Packet sniffing is a technique used to monitor every single packet transmitted in
the Youbet.com Data Center to ensure that only legitimate and authorized communications
are permitted. Packet sniffing allows Youbet Security Engineers to monitor what
servers are communicating and what they are saying to each other, looking for any
strange or improper communications.
What is encryption?
Encryption is a technique for scrambling the data sent between two parties so that
it remains private from outsiders and also remains un-tampered. By encrypting data
sent between Youbet members and the Youbet Data Center, Youbet ensures that no secure
information is transmitted where any unauthorized persons could read it. Encryption
also ensures that no information is changed or otherwise tampered with during transmission.
What is hardware encryption?
Hardware encryption uses the same principles as software encryption. However, hardware
encryption is optimized to run very quickly, so large amounts of data can be encrypted
without any loss of performance. It is typically more expensive than software encryption
but also much more secure and much faster.
Is my personal account information secure?
All personal account information is strictly confidential and stored in encrypted
form in secure servers. No information will be passed along to any other entity
without a legally binding subpoena or order.
What protection do I have from others using my account?
Your password and User ID protect your account. Please do not share your password
or User ID information with anyone.
What does my password do?
Your password is your personal security system, guarding
your Youbet account information. You should be careful
with it, and strictly limit access to it. If you think
your password has been compromised, or if you want to
change it for any reason, call Player Services at
1-888-968-2388. Representative are available daily,
from, 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. PT. Youbet.com passwords
must contain at least four lower case characters, but no

any combination, with no spaces between characters.

racing?

wagering Australian races?
Which currency is used for odds and payouts?
What types of wagers can one place on Australian Racing?
When is post-time for Australian Racing?
How current are the transmissions of Minutes to Post and Odds?
What other helpful tips should I know when playing Australia?
What are the differences between Australian and U.S. thoroughbred
racing?
Track Surface and Turf Conditions
Thoroughbred Racing in Australia is considered to be more European than American
because it is conducted solely on turf. Part of what makes this type of racing exciting
is that not all tracks have the same type of grass surfaces.
Classifications of turf conditions are also different in Australia. Here are the
official Australian track conditions with definition, followed by the North American
equivalent.
|
Australia |
North America |
| Fast (f) hard and dry track |
Hard (hd) |
| Good (gd) dry, some 'give' |
Firm (fm)
|
| Dead (de) slightly wet |
Good (gd) |
| Slow (sl) rain affected |
Soft (sf) |
| Heavy (hy) wet, muddy, slippery |
Yielding (yl) |
Track Configuration
Racetrack layouts in Australia are diversely configured. The variety of distinct
turns and directions provide myriad challenges to both novice and experienced horseplayers.
At most racetracks, horses race in counter-clockwise (also known as "anti-clockwise"
in Australia) fashion. Sydney Metropolitan tracks (Randwick, Rosehill, Canterbury,
Warwick Farm) and some provincial country tracks race their horses in a clockwise
direction. Track layouts are readily available when downloading Australia's Past
Performance data.
Race Conditions
Because there are very few claiming races in Australia, many races are "written"
for horses that have won the same number of races. Most horses start out in maidens
(Class 0). When they win, most will then come back in a Class 1 handicap, which
means non-winners of two flat (as opposed to hurdle or steeple) races. The best
pointer to use when handicapping an Australian race - given that most races in the
past performance lines will read Hcp. (Handicap) - is to note the value of the race.
Please refer to the Glossary of Australian Racing Conditions for further information.
Post Positions
In Australian racing, horses are assigned post positions by random draw.
Note that program numbers may not correspond to post position numbers, as program
numbers are assigned by weight carried (highest weight carried is program number
1, 2nd high weight post position 2, and so forth)
What tracks from Australia will Youbet offer?
We offer a daily program consisting of racing conducted from
one or two tracks. Commonly, when two tracks are simulcast,
each track will take turns racing within 10 to 20-minute
intervals.
What information products does Youbet.com
provide for horseplayers wagering Australian races?
We provide Programs and Past Performance for simulcast
Australian races. Past Performances are in PDF format,
which requires the Acrobat Reader (included when
installing Youbet.com software).
Which currency is used for odds and payouts?
Odds and payouts reflect the results of the North American pari-mutuel pool.
Winnings
are paid in U.S. dollars.
What types of wagers can be placed on Australian Racing?
All wagering types as dictated by the
North American pools. Win, place, show, exacta, quinella,
trifecta and a Pick 4 are commonly offered.
When is post-time for Australian Racing?
First post-times often vary by as much as one hour until the track
program is official. Please refer to Youbet's
Racing
Schedule within 24 hours of 1st post for the
updated post time.
How current are the transmissions of Minutes to Post and
Odds?
Minutes to post and Odds are updated every minute.
What other helpful tips should I know when playing Australia?
International Date Line Differences.
Australia is approximately 15 hours ahead of North America's
Pacific Time zone. For example, Thursday's races, are
available late Wednesday in North America.
Bet Early.
Official Results from Australia are confirmed and verified twice in North America
for integrity. Accordingly, Members may experience delays before the Minutes
to Post and Odds of the following race are displayed. Betting as early as possible will
prevent getting shut out as a result of these periodic delays.
