Conor Benn will face the toughest test of his career against former title challenger Adrian Granados on Sept. 4.

Granados will be a significant test
Though Benn didn’t get the fight he was hoping for, because Amir Khan’s guts turned out to be as useless as his chin, a fight against the tough Granados should be telling.
Benn obliterated veteran Samuel Vargas in April and showed shades of his father Nigel’s crippling power.
At 24, Benn has shown tremendous maturity and skill. Granados should serve as the test Vargas was meant to be, even if Benn carries major advantages in size and power.

Granados cannot afford another loss
Granados is one loss away from being written off as a stepping stone. Often fighting between junior welterweight and welterweight, Granados is in the midst of a rocky stretch and was last seen in a majority draw against unheralded prospect Jose Luis Sanchez.
But Granados always rises to the occasion and can be a handful, thanks to his relentless pressure.
Though he has yet to topple a top-tier foe, Granandos has been competitive against more accomplished fighters than Benn, and he might prove troublesome for the emerging star.
Granados will wilt under Benn’s power
In the past, Granados has served as the unfortunate moment of truth for rising prospects and contenders alike, because of his nonstop pressure and determination. That style of fighting has clearly taken its toll, as he is easier to hit and hurt.
Benn is going to score big on the smaller Granados, who usually takes a few rounds to get started. By the time Granados comes forward, Benn’s power punching will have him on the verge of a stoppage. As Benn begins to lay into Granados, Granados will throw caution to the wind and leave himself open for plenty of punishment.
If Granados can somehow weather the early storm, he might test Benn and take him the distance. The likely scenario is that Benn will flatten Granados around the seventh round.
