Joshua Parker and Dereck Chisora look to add another thrilling chapter in their regional rivalry on December 18. Here are our picks and predictions for Parker vs. Chisora II.
Parker has an identity crisis
Parker has gone through a bit of a makeover after back-to-back loses against Anthony Joshua and Dillian Whyte. He has become increasingly passive and nowhere near as aggressive as he once was.
Chisora’s rough style proved problematic at first, but he adjusted accordingly and won out.
Watching Chisora floor Parker in the first round was troubling. Though Parker never really changed gears, he still managed to figure out Chisora.
Parker needs to have some sort of urgency here, especially as Chisora has nothing left to lose.
Chisora is running out of chances
The heavyweight division’s toughest journeyman can still make it happen at 37, but he’s clearly at the end of his rope. Chisora gave it a good shot in the first fight, but that was more about what Parker wasn’t doing, as opposed to anything he did.

Getting off to another strong start is key for Chisora, but his conditioning and his legs are showing the ravages of a long career. Historically speaking, Chisora has fared poorly in rematches, as he was stopped in second encounters versus Tyson Fury and Whyte, respectively.
Parker will fight with urgency, decision Chisora
If this fight was round 13 of the first fight and not round 1 of a new one, then Chisora would be a steal. The thing is, Chisora looked as good as he could and still lost against a sleepwalking Parker, as clear as day.
This time around, Parker knows exactly what to expect with Chisora’s awkwardness, knowing that he handled it just fine the first time around.
While it’s true that Parker’s newfound safety-first approach doesn’t work to his strengths, he still is a former champion and the better technician. The knockdown in the first fight was an anomaly, but expect the rematch to play similarly, aside from that.
It’s hard seeing Parker lose here. He may not be tremendously talented or that much better than Chisora, but Chisora is an aged journeyman who has dealt with consistency issues his entire career, and it’s hard to pick someone with those kinds of intangibles.
The call is Parker waking up for work, packing a lunch this time, and scoring another decision win.
