How to practice blackjack online to win more

Who doesn’t want to win more money playing blackjack? Of course, we all do. The good news is blackjack has one of the lowest house edges in the casino. The even better news is that by following some solid, easy-to-learn blackjack strategies, you can bring that edge down even more.

Happily for you, there are many options online to blackjack to make the process quick and easy. Finding promotions that will let you play free is a perfect opportunity for honing your skills before playing with real money and trying to make a profit.

Free blackjack practice

First things first, let’s remind you of the basic rules of how to play blackjack. You get two cards, face-up, and the dealer receives two cards, but only one face-up.

To win the hand, you must get closer to the magical total of 21 than the dealer, or hope that the dealer goes bust by getting more than 21. That’s all there is to blackjack, but there is some blackjack primary strategy practice that will improve your profit margins.

The key is to understand the probability of what might happen in a hand, based on the known facts. You know your two cards and the dealer’s one card, and the likelihood that the next card out of the deck will be ten (since all tens and picture cards are the same value).

Now, you must take extra note of the value of the dealer’s face-up card, and assume that his other card is a ten. This notional total should determine how you play your hand. How does this work?

Double down or stand with rubbish

Take note; this is probably the most straightforward way to increase your win rate. If the dealer is showing a four, five, or six, you can be confident they might bust. That’s because you assume the face-down card is a ten, making their total 14, 15, or 16. With any of these totals, the dealer must draw another card, with the likelihood of going over 21.

With this in mind, you can afford to play it safe if your own two cards are rubbish. If you have anything from 12 to 17, totals you might ordinarily take another card with, you can stand instead and, hopefully, watch the dealer bust.

If your hand totals eight, nine, ten, or 11, you should now double down, which means doubling your original stake and standing on any new total. Now the dealer plays, hopefully busts, and you get more money back than you otherwise would have done. Learn more about doubling down with our handy guide.

Another way of getting more money on the table if the dealer shows a poor face-up card is to split. Splitting with two cards of the same value is another way of doubling your stakes in the hope of getting twice as much back. However, never split with two tens, since it’s highly likely you have won the hand already, so no need to risk adding to your stake and ending up with two inferior totals.

Blackjack strategy practice

Here are two more cash-savers. Firstly, if the dealer shows an ace, players will be offered insurance, which means if he does have blackjack, you don’t lose your money.

However, as enticing as it sounds, it’s a terrible blackjack strategy to accept and pay for insurance. Over time, you will lose money because of the house enjoying a hefty insurance edge of 5.9%.

The second tip is to play single-deck blackjack if you can find a table, rather than one that plays with six or even eight decks. The reason is that you can keep a better idea of how many tens or picture cards are already in play. This makes your predictions more accurate.

Armed with the simple strategies outlined above, why not have a go for yourself? Visit our your favorite casino today after getting expert advice from YOUBET, then head to the blackjack tables. Play for free until you’re ready to make a deposit and then play for real cash.

With real money, you can even play on live dealer tables, where you get to bet in real-time with a real dealer using a proper blackjack table and cards. It’s just like playing the real thing in a casino. Good luck!
