Big 12 Week 7: Kansas vs. West Virginia odds and pick

Week 6 of the college football season provided a game of the year candidate in the Red River Showdown, where Oklahoma bested Texas in four overtimes, 53-45.

In Week 7, the Big 12 is down to only one game on the schedule, after the Baylor-Oklahoma State game was postponed because of COVID-19 related issues.

Let's dive into this game, between the Kansas Jayhawks and West Virginia Mountaineers, and make some wagers.

Kansas vs. West Virginia

The start of the 2020 season has not gone well for Les Miles and the Jayhawks. They are currently 0-3 both straight up and against the spread.

There are 76 FBS teams that have played football this season. Kansas ranks 73rd in points per game (14.7) and 74th in points allowed per game (44). It also ranks 71st in total offense (296 yards per game). Kansas has yet to force a turnover on defense this season and converted only nine of 39 third downs on offense. On defense, the Jayhawks have allowed opponents to convert 25 of their 47 third-down conversions.

West Virginia is entering this matchup at 2-1, under second year head coach Neal Brown. The Mountaineers are also 2-1 ATS, as they covered in both wins and failed to coer in a loss to Oklahoma State. They just won an exciting, double-overtime game over Baylor two weeks ago.

They rank 31st in scoring (32 points per game) and 14th in points allowed (19.3 per game).

The  West Virginia defense is also excellent at stopping opponents on third down. It has only allowed 14 conversions on 49 attempts this season. The defense is eighth in the nation in yards allowed (268 per game).

The Mountaineers have dominated this series, with eight wins in nine matchups since they joined the Big 12 in 2012. The only loss was at Kansas in 2013. However, Kansas has covered in three of the past four matchups. The Over has also hit in three of the past four games between these teams.

The West Virginia defense will have no issues shutting down the Kansas offense. The Jayhawks cannot convert third downs or put points on the board, and the Mountaineers excel at stopping teams on third downs.

I would be all over the Under, and you can double down and take both the first-half Under and the full-time Under.
