CFB Week 9 Parlay: SEC battles, high-scoring Bearcats
Highly ranked SEC teams took care of business at home in Week 8, with Alabama, Georgia, and Vanderbilt recording wins over well-regarded conference rivals, and we will include a pair of SEC games in our Week 9 college football parlay.
YouBet.com handicaps a three-team parlay each week and has been on a good run, winning for the second time in October last week. Below is our Week 9 parlay, lines courtesy of BetMGM, and times listed as Eastern Standard Time.
CFB Week 9 parlay (+598): Under
(Ole Miss-Oklahoma) – Cincinnati Over – LSUOle Miss at Oklahoma, 12 p.m.
Oklahoma is a top-ranked SEC team in terms of defensive success rate, the only blip this season being a dismal second half vs Texas, and John Mateer wasn’t sharp in his first game back from an injury that day. Mateer’s back in form, completing 18 of 26 passes in a convincing win at South Carolina last week, and the Sooners’ defense is gaining momentum (second nationally, allowing 10.5 points per game). Ole Miss exits a tough second half at Georgia and must deal with off-field distractions after Florida fired their head coach (Lane Kiffin, a perfect fit in Gainesville). Nebraska laid an egg under similar circumstances last week (head coach a Penn St. alumni) and we expect a hangover effect for the Rebels.
Pick: Under
Baylor at Cincinnati, 4 p.m.
It’s been a long time since Baylor’s defense was one of the worst in the country. But they’ve sunk near the bottom this season, and Cincinnati’s offense is legit. The Bearcats have scored at least 36 points in five of their last six games, and we expect them to drop at least 40 on Baylor. The Bears are awful in road games, surrendering 45 to SMU and 40 to TCU, and they even gave up 27 to putrid Oklahoma St. (128th in scoring offense at 14.8 per game).
Pick: Cincinnati Over
Texas A&M at LSU, 7:30 p.m.
LSU is stout defensively, and unbeaten Texas A&M will provide opportunities for its low-scoring offense. Aggies have faced only one ranked team so far, winning 41-40 over Notre Dame, and 2-5 Arkansas put up 42 in a three-point loss last week. Both were road games, and another difficult road test looms Saturday night. Tigers, which have also had their road struggles, losing at Ole Miss and Vandy, are more tested and still have plenty to play for. Bounce back spot with their backs up against the wall.
Pick: LSU
