Expect Baylor's winning streak to continue against Oklahoma

Week 12 of the college footballs season is brimming with potential upsets, including an especially juicy game between Oklahoma and Baylor (all games previewed are Saturday).

#10 Oklahoma (-10.5) at #13 Baylor, 7:30 p.m. ET, ABC

Baylor has come a long way since the banishment of Art Briles and once again is nationally relevant. The Bears have been outstanding this year, and their 9-0 record leads the Big 12. However, danger is ahead, as the Oklahoma Sooners come to town as two-score favorites.

Oddsmakers are giving Baylor zero respect, and I am very surprised at this line. Oklahoma can put points on the board but has struggled to stop anyone on defense. Just last week the Sooners let up 41 points to Iowa State and managed to win by just a point.

This one should be a high-scoring affair, with both teams averaging a combined 83 points per game, but Baylor can spring the upset and take advantage of an Oklahoma defense that has faced a soft schedule and is worse than its season stats look.

#1 LSU (-21.5) at Mississippi, 7 p.m. ET, ESPN

LSU had its biggest win in years when it knocked off Alabama on the road, but it’s a new week, and we have new information. I am against LSU this week, even though I loved them last week.

It’s the old “letdown angle,” combined with LSU hitting the road again. The Tigers had to be feeling great all week and have their sights on the SEC title. While they probably won’t lose to Ole Miss, three scores way too much in this letdown environment.

Ole Miss has lost a lot this year but has played better than its record indicates. Look for the Rebels to keep it close.

Pick: Mississippi +21.5

Syracuse at Duke (-10.5), 4 p.m. ET, ACC Network

Duke was blown away last week against a Notre Dame team that many had written off as overrated. Duke was touted by many experts to have a chance to win that game, and the closing line of around seven points showed that. However, Duke didn’t back its backers in a 38-7 loss and was never involved in the game.

Syracuse comes to town and has had its own struggles, but the best medicine for a team that is struggling just might be another that is struggling more. The Orange have lost four straight games but has had two weeks to prepare for Duke. Syracuse needs to win its last three games to get bowl eligible and can spring the upset this week.
