Heisman Trophy Odds Update: Corral now co-favored with Young

The Heisman Trophy futures odds have a new frontrunner after Week 3 of college football. Ole Miss quarterback Matt Corral has flown to the top of the odds board, after a school-record performance.

Let’s take a look at this week’s updated Heisman Trophy odds, discuss the risers and fallers, and tell you what to keep an eye on as you look for wagering value!

Corral and Young headed for collision course

This week sees a pair of players established as co-favorites in the Heisman odds for the first time this season.

After his price nearly hit even money, Bryce Young slipped from +125 to +200 this week, despite leading Alabama to a 31-29 victory over Florida in "The Swamp."

Young threw for more than 100 yards and three touchdowns in the opening quarter, but he struggled much of the remainder of the game and failed to score another touchdown. He finished with 233 passing yards.

While those numbers are solid, Corral made a massive statement in Ole Miss' 61-21 victory over Tulane.

Through just three quarters, the senior posted 335 passing yards and a trio of scores. He also added another 68 yards on the ground and scampered across the goal line four times.

His seven touchdowns were a school record.

Through three games this season, Corral has accounted for 997 passing yards, 158 rushing yards, 14 total touchdowns, and has yet to turn over the football.

Following a 45-17 victory over Old Dominion, Liberty quarterback Malik Willis holds steady as the third choice in the Heisman odds, with a +800 price.

He gained 319 total yards of offense and scored six touchdowns, but given the lack of quality opposition, it will take superhuman numbers to displace Young and Corral.

Meanwhile, JT Daniels' odds went from +1400 to a fourth-best +1000, following his return to action against South Carolina.

In that matchup, he threw for 303 yards and three touchdowns. Daniels has ground to make up, but Georgia should roll through the SEC East, giving him plenty of opportunities to do so.

Stroud falls, while Slovis disappears

Ohio State followed up its defeat to Oregon with a 41-20 victory over Tulsa, but quarterback CJ Stroud came plummeting back down to earth.

He completed just 15 of 25 passes for 185 yards and a touchdown. He also had a pass picked off and overthrew numerous passes.

Stroud's price to win the Heisman nearly doubled, from +2000 to +4000, as a result.

Meanwhile, USC quarterback Kedon Slovis has seen his price drop the past two weeks, from +2500 to +10000, and may not even be the starting quarterback for his team moving forward, following the performance of Jaxson Dart against Washington State.

Slovis was injured and did not play, and Dart came in to throw for nearly 400 yards and four touchdowns in a comeback victory.

Slovis is now in a battle for the starting job, and at this point, any bets on him would be a waste of money.

USC quarterback Kedon Slovis isn’t expected to miss any practice time after X-rays and an MRI exam on his injured neck came back negative.

But his job as USC’s starting QB might be in jeopardy after freshman Jaxson Dart's dynamic debut in his place.https://t.co/xPzC1Xrmz0

Preseason favorite Spencer Rattler has slid a bit more this week, as he went from +900 to +1200 following Oklahoma’s 23-16 win over Nebraska.

Rattler threw for just 214 yards on 24 completions, scored a passing touchdown, and ran for another. He was slightly outplayed by Adrian Martinez.

If Rattler does not step up against West Virginia this weekend with a big performance, he might see his odds drop even further.

What to keep an eye on

The Crimson Tide will host Southern Miss this weekend, while Ole Miss will have a bye week.

Both teams will be preparing for a massive showdown next weekend in Tuscaloosa, when Young and Corral will square off in one of the most exciting games of the season.

Young has a chance to reclaim sole possession of the top spot in the Heisman odds, meaning you could get a bit better price for Corral next week.

However, the time to grab him for value has passed, as he has moved up from his +2500 preseason price.

Meanwhile, now might be the time to jump on JT Daniels. With Vanderbilt coming up this weekend, Georgia should roll ahead to its October slate, where three of its four opponents are currently ranked.

Strong performances against each of those teams help Daniels' odds decrease even further, and if either Young or Corral struggle next weekend, it would give Daniels an even bigger bump.

If you’re looking for a longshot, I would keep an eye on Anthony Brown of Oregon, as well as Penn State quarterback Sean Clifford.

Brown held steady at +2500, following a 48-7 drubbing of lowly Stony Brook, but the Ducks host a winless Arizona team this weekend, so Brown should see his price drop.

Meanwhile, Clifford played well in Penn State's 28-20 victory over Auburn. He completed all but four of his 32 pass attempts and threw a pair of touchdowns.

In the past two weeks, Clifford has gone from off the board to +3300. With Villanova and Indiana on deck, I expect that number to go lower as we head into October.
