College sports have seen a significant increase in transfer athletes that hop from one school to another and make a tremendous impact. Players transfer for a variety of reasons, and a new arrival can quickly change a team’s fortunes.

Here are five transfers you’ll want to keep an eye on during the 2021 college football season.

5. McKenzie Milton, quarterback (Central Florida ➔ Florida State)

Milton shined at UCF, before he suffered a devastating knee injury in 2018. He was one of the better quarterbacks in the country, and he has since worked his way back to health.

He is competing for the starting job at Florida State, and let's hope he gets a chance to end his college career on his own terms.

4. Ty Chandler, running back (Tennessee ➔ North Carolina)

Chandler has compiled impressive stats to this point in his college career. He ran for more than 2,000 yards in four seasons with Tennessee and added 58 receptions for 465 yards.

He is now with the Tar Heels and could be a workhorse for a program that lost a pair of talented backs after the 2020 season.

3. Wanya Morris, offensive line (Tennesee ➔ Oklahoma)

Morris was a five-star prospect in high school and was a two-year starter for the Vols.

He’ll be a vital part of an offensive line trusted to protect Heisman Trophy hopeful Spencer Rattler.

2. Tyler Shough, quarterback (Oregon ➔ Texas Tech)

Shough led the Ducks to a Pac-12 championship and an appearance in the Fiesta Bowl.

However, he was benched in the bowl game, entered the transfer portal, and wound up at Texas Tech. He’ll be the starter for the Red Raiders this season, and expectations are high.

1. Derion Kendrick, cornerback (Clemson ➔ Georgia)

It may be a surprise to see a defensive back atop this list, but Kendrick’s skills merit the placement.

He was a two-time All-ACC selection for Clemson, after he made the switch from wide receiver, and he’ll be relied upon heavily as Georgia looks to replace NFL draftees Tyson Campbell and Eric Stokes.

Fittingly enough, Kendrick’s first game for the Bulldogs comes against his former team!
