UFC 259 has all the ingredients to be a historic night in MMA. Here's everything you need to know for this impressive card on March 6.

Where is UFC 259 happening?

UFC 259 is scheduled for Saturday, March 6 at 10 p.m. ET at the UFC Apex arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

How can I watch UFC 259?

The main card will be an ESPN+ pay-per-view, with the preliminary bouts available to ESPN+ and UFC Fight Pass subscribers.

Who is on the main card of UFC 259?

UFC 259 features some of the biggest names and heaviest hitters in MMA. Take a look at the main card below.

FightersDivision
Jan Blachowicz vs. Israel Adesanya
Light Heavyweight
Amanda Nunes vs. Megan Anderson
Women's Featherweight
Petr Yan vs. Aljamain Sterling
Bantamweight
Islam Makhachev vs. Drew Dober
Lightweight
Aleksandar Rakic vs. Thiago Santos
Light Heavyweight

UFC 259 will feature three title fights where the champions are facing their No. 1 contenders. While this would be a strong selling point to any fight card, the implications reach far beyond marketing. The supporting bouts have Makhachev against Dober and a critical light heavyweight contest between Rakic and Santos.

Can Adesanya make history?

Adesanya is hoping to become the fourth male fighter to simultaneously hold titles in two weight classes with a victory over Blachowicz in the main event. It’s an honor previously shared by the likes of Conor McGregor, Daniel Cormier, Henry Cejudo, and Nunes.

After cleaning out the middleweight division, Adesanya wasted no time in going after the dangerous and surging Blachowicz. Should Adesanya win, it may very well establish him as the best MMA fighter in the world.

Is Nunes overlooking Anderson?

After a brief flirtation with retiring, Nunes is returning to defend her featherweight title against Anderson. It will be incredibly hard for Nunes to impress here. While Anderson has earned her shot, the divide in talent suggests this may be another one-sided beatdown by "The Lioness."

With no emerging threats to the throne, and potentially one foot out the door, Nunes can’t afford to overlook a hungry and capable Anderson.

Has Petr Yan bit off more than he can chew?

Yan and Sterling have been jawing at each other for some time, and the bad blood is sure to be spilt on the canvas in the night’s most personal fight.

We’ve seen Yan trounce fading veterans on the way to a bantamweight title, but Sterling presents a stiff challenge for the Russian champ. If Sterling isn’t the best mat technician in the division, he’s right up there, and Yan might have his work cut out for him against a man believing he’s about to achieve championship glory.

What awaits the winner of Rakic/Santos?

The Rakic/Santos winner will almost certainly be on the shortlist for the winner of the main event, especially if Rakic can add to Santos’ two-fight skid. Santos is in desperate need of a win, as he’s squandered all the momentum he had by pushing Jon Jones to the limit a little under two years ago. There is a lot on the line here beyond bragging rights, and this one might end up the fight of the night.

Will Adesanya be recognized as the best pound-for-pound fighter in the UFC?

With Jones moving on to heavyweight, the stage is set for Adesanya to win another title and gain recognition as the best pound-for-pound fighter in the UFC. Being undefeated and a two-weight champion is practically unheard of, and Blachowicz is no pushover as a champion.

While everyone would prefer Jones/Adesanya, it shouldn’t take away from the incredible task at hand for Adesanya to accomplish what so few have done in the past. Should he win, he won’t be just the light heavyweight champion; he'll be the undisputed king of the cage.
