Joey Logano's odds are too good to pass up at GEICO 500

The NASCAR drivers head to Talladega Superspeedway this Sunday, June 21 for the GEICO 500 (3 p.m., FOX). Alabama’s mammoth 2.66-mile oval, much like its sister track in Daytona Beach, FL, has a reputation for producing wild and unpredictable races, occasionally featuring massive wrecks. Oddsmakers have adjusted accordingly, hanging sizable odds on almost every driver in the field.

Let’s dive in now and identify Sunday’s three best bets to take the checkered flag at Talladega.
Joey Logano (+900)
Joey Logano is the tepid favorite for the GEICO 500, and it’s easy to see why. He has three wins in his last nine trips to this oval with three additional Top 5 finishes. Logano’s 123 laps led over the last four races at Talladega is second only to Kurt Busch (129).
Being in a Ford gives Logano a leg-up, as the manufacturer has won eight of the last nine NASCAR Cup Series events over this course. The 2018 champion will start ninth in this race by virtue of a random draw.
Tyler Reddick (+2500)
Tyler Reddick, the two-time defending Xfinity Series champion, won at Talladega a year ago and placed eighth the year before that.

The Cup Series rookie has been gaining momentum in his No. 8 Chevrolet, posting an average finishing position of 9.75 over his last eight races, excluding his 36th place result at Bristol that was due to an accident. Reddick’s gaining 20 spots at Homestead-Miami last week was quite impressive. He’ll roll off the grid 16th.
Christopher Bell (+4000)
Christopher Bell, also in his rookie season driving the No. 95 Toyota, has a respectable average finishing position of 14.22 since the season resumed nine races ago. He exits a season-best eighth-place finish at Homestead-Miami.
Bell finished third in the Xfinity Series a year ago but led over 2,000 laps, doubling the nearest competitor (Cole Custer). He posted a strong third-place finish behind Reddick at Talladega in 2019. The year before, Bell checked in 12th over this course.
His 35th-place starting position will be tough to overcome, but the odds are fair.
