NBA Sixth Man of the Year Odds (2025)

The NBA awards are announced during the postseason each year. Though most focus is on things like NBA MVP, Rookie of the Year, and Defensive Player of the Year, the Sixth Man of the Year award deserves its day in the sun.

This award is there to award those players who contribute to their teams from the bench. These are the unsung players who are critical to the success of their teams, yet may not get the headlines that the star players typically get. These are the odds each player had coming into the postseason to claim Sixth Man of the Year.

Preseason Favorites

The major sportsbooks post odds for the Sixth Man of the Year in August. Coming into the season, there were two clear favorites to win the award: Malik Monk of the Sacramento Kings (+430) and Naz Reid of the Minnesota Timberwolves (+600).

There were other notable names on the list as well. Norman Powell (+1000), Jordan Clarkson (+1100), Caris LeVert (+1100), Buddy Hield (+1500), and Alex Caruso (+1500) were among the biggest names near the top of the list. At the end of the day, the three best odds at the end of the season belonged to players who barely made the list.

Payton Pritchard, Boston Celtics

Your 2024-25 NBA Sixth Man of the Year is Payton Pritchard of the Boston Celtics. A key part of the 61-win Celtics, Pritchard averaged 14.3 points, 3.5 assists, and 3.8 rebounds per game while averaging 28.4 minutes per game.

Pritchard won the award while shooting a career-best 47.2% from the field. His 40.7% 3-point shooting range is equally as impressive. At +10000 in preseason odds, Pritchard was definitely one of the dark horses to potentially win the award. Given some of the names at the top of the list, it is certainly an upset of sorts.

Pritchard’s win will only further solidify the Celtics as arguably the contender to win the NBA Championship. Pritchard was solid for the Celtics as they won the NBA Championship a season ago, and he is coming into his own this season. Going into the playoffs, Pritchard will be a key component in any deep run that the Celtics make.

Malik Beasley, Detroit Pistons

The veteran shooting guard – the 19th overall pick to the Denver Nuggets in the 2016 NBA Draft – was far down the preseason list for this award, but he is the clear runner-up when all things are said and done.

The 28-year-old had his best season since 2020-21, averaging 16.3 points per game for a Pistons team that made the playoffs for the first time in ages. Beasley’s scoring off the bench was invaluable, and he chipped in with 2.6 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game as well.

Beasley received some preseason love, but no one could have anticipated him finishing second for the award. It is an excellent achievement for a player who seemed like he might be on his way out of the league.

Ty Jerome, Cleveland Cavaliers

It has taken some time since Jerome was selected 24th overall in 2019 by the Philadelphia 76ers, but Jerome has finally found his place. He was a key component coming off the bench for the Cleveland Cavaliers this season, contributing to their 64-win season.

In 70 games, Jerome was excellent. The shooting guard contributed 12.5 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game, helping the Cavaliers to one of the top offenses in the league. Knowing that they had consistent production coming off the bench definitely helped.

Jerome even finishing as a finalist should be a major feather in his cap. Given the depth of the Cavaliers and the way they are structured, it would not be a surprise if Jerome found himself among the early favorites for the award heading into 2025-26.
