5 game props to bet on NFL Wild Card Weekend

The NFL playoffs kick off Saturday, when the defending champion New England Patriots host the sixth-seeded Tennessee Titans and the Buffalo Bills hit the road to take on the Houston Texans. To add to the excitement of Wild Card weekend, here are five prop bets to consider.

Buffalo Bills at Houston Texans (-2.5), Saturday, 4:35 p.m. ET (ABC)

Total, first half: Under 21 (-105)

The Bills boast the No. 3 defense and face a Houston team dealing with injuries on offense. Will Fuller is listed as questionable with a groin issue, and Kenny Stills has been limited in practice with a knee injury. Quarterback Deshaun Watson may be playing with limited options and could find it difficult to breach Buffalo’s No. 4 pass defense.

The Under is 4-1 in the last five games played between Houston and Buffalo, and you can expect a low-scoring first half, as well. Houston and Buffalo average 10.1 and 9.4 points, respectively, before halftime. Look for the score after two quarters to hit Under 21.

Tennessee Titans at New England Patriots (-5), Saturday, 8:15 p.m. ET (CBS)

Ryan Tannehill passing touchdowns: Over 1.5 (+120)

The Titans became an entirely new team after Ryan Tannehill stepped in as the starting quarterback in Week 7. Since then Tannehill has notched multiple passing touchdowns in each game, with the exception of a one-touchdown outing against Carolina in Week 9 (he also ran for a score in that 30-20 loss).

The Patriots own the second-ranked pass defense, but Tannehill tossed a pair of touchdowns on the Chargers’ fifth-ranked passing defense and threw for another two against Kansas City’s eighth-ranked unit. He should be able to put up a couple of scores in New England on Sunday.

Total, first quarter: Over 9.5 (-110)

The Patriots average 7.4 points in the first quarter, while Tennessee generates 4.3.

Aside from scoreless first quarters against Philadelphia, Baltimore and Miami, New England put up at least three points in the first period of each contest this season. Since Week 12 against the Jaguars, the Titans recorded at least one touchdown in the first quarter of every game but one. Also of note, if you're looking to bet on touchdown scorers, A.J. Brown has registered a TD in each of those games, minus his scoreless outing against the Colts.

Minnesota Vikings at New Orleans Saints (-8), Sunday, 1:05 p.m. ET (FOX)

Vikings +4.5, first half (-110)

The Vikings trailed at halftime four times this season— Week 2 at Green Bay, Week 11 versus Denver and Weeks 4 and 17 against Chicago—though Minnesota sat key starters in the final regular-season matchup. The Saints fell in the hole before halftime on five occasions, and three of those were at home.

With the loser going home for good at the end of the contest, both of these teams will come out firing, and Minnesota should keep it close until the halftime break.

Seattle Seahawks (-1.5) at Philadelphia Eagles, Sunday, 4:40 p.m. ET (NBC)

Seahawks -0.5, first half (+100)

The 9-7 Eagles didn't look like a playoff contender all season and already hosted Seattle in a 17-9 loss in Week 12.

Seattle carried a 10-3 lead into halftime the first time around and should be able to repeat similar success. The Seahawks will be without Rashaad Penny and Chris Carson, who combined for 155 rushing yards against the Eagles, but Marshawn Lynch is back in the fold for Seattle and should create issues for Philly.

The Eagles receiving corps is banged up, as it has been all year, and Philadelphia has had trouble with slow starts throughout 2019. Seattle will once again build a steady lead before halftime.
