FanEx Sports: Fantasy Advice NFL Week 14

A Few Of My Favorite Plays

No, A Street Car Named Desire won’t be on the list, but that is a great one! These are guys I’m going all in on this week in fantasy football.

Matt Forte NFL Pickem Fan Ex Sports

Matt Forte: Forte will be at home in frigid Chicago taking on the Dallas Cowboy’s defense. Yes, Sean Lee should be back, but that didn't stop the Cowboys from having an awful run defense before that. And the reason I really love Forte in this one is because the Cowboys have truly been awful at defending running backs against the pass. They are giving up 7.75 receptions, 57.1 yards and .42 receiving touchdowns per game to running backs through the air. That’s the high for each stat. Forte is third in receptions, fifth in yards, and tied for second in touchdowns through the air. It’s the perfect match-up. And I won’t go into how bad Dallas has been against the run. They've been bad.

Torrey Smith: Smith has been getting a ton of red zone targets of late. Ten in his last four games to be exact. And it has shown with three touchdowns in the last four games. This week he takes on the Vikings who have given up the most touchdowns through the air this season.

Kendall Wright: It’s going to be frigid in Denver on Sunday, but I don’t think that will stop the Titans from needing to pass the ball often against the high scoring Broncos who are on pace to break the Patriots all time scoring record. Wright is a PPR monster and should once again get his 5.92 receptions per game with upside for more against a team giving up 13.25 receptions per game to wide receivers which ranks 28th in the league.

Calvin Johnson Daily Fantasy Football Pick Stud Wide Receiver

Calvin Johnson: Oh, so I should start the best wide receiver in the league? Yes, yes you should! His match-up is too good for me not to write about. The only thing that will keep him from 150 yards and two touchdowns in this game would be an all-out ice storm with 50 mph winds. The Eagles are giving up the most fantasy points, the most receptions and the most yards and the most touchdowns to wide receivers this season. It could be a blood bath.

Josh McCown: McCown will get another start this week and he gets yet another good match-up. The Cowboys are giving up the second most passing yards per game, the second most fantasy points to quarterbacks, the seventh most passing touchdowns, and the eight worst completion percentage. As I mentioned when talking about Matt Forte, they also are generous to receiving running backs, which will also help McCown, especially if Forte can get a good chunk of yards after the catch. The weather is concerning in Chicago, but Marc Trestman’s offense doesn't need big plays down field to be proficient.

Jason Witten: The Bears are giving up the  third most receptions to tight ends with 5.92 per game and the third most yards with 75.1. The middle of the field should be open for Witten all day. Jimmy Graham and Jordan Reed both had huge games against the Bears, but Jared Cook and Brandon Pettigrew both put up good numbers as well. Witten sits between those four somewhere on the fantasy scale and should get his.
Demarco Murray nfl week 6 fantasy football

DeMarco Murray: This match-up is almost too good to be true for Murray. The Bears, even when they know it’s coming, cannot for the life of them stop the run. Last week Adrian Peterson had his most yards rushing on the season and you can pretty much say that for anyone who has faced them this season. Ray Rice, Benny Cunningham, Eddie Lacy, Brandon Jacobs, and Reggie Bush all had their most rushing yards on the season against them.  On the season they are giving up an amazing 133.5 yards rushing to running backs per game. That’s higher than the Saints gave up last season, which is saying something.

Eddie Lacy: The Packers will run the ball early and often in their match-up with Atlanta on Sunday. That’s good and bad of course. The Falcons will know the run is coming, so will set their defense to stopping it, but they are so bad at stopping the run I just don’t think they can do it. Over the last eight games they are allowing opposing running backs to rush for 143.3 yards per game at 5.2 yards per carry. He could easily get 25+ carries in the frozen tundra with Matt Flynn at the helm.
