Giants vs. Eagles: The best betting props for TNF

What a mess the NFC East has turned into this season. Despite sporting horrendous records, the  Philadelphia Eagles (1-4-1) and New York Giants (1-5) are still in contention for the division, as they face each other on Thursday Night Football to kickoff Week 7 of the NFL schedule.

We're hoping to follow up on a perfect three-for-three night of props picks two weeks ago with our best prop bets for Thursday's game between the Giants and Eagles.

Anytime touchdown

Carson Wentz takes a lot of criticism in Philadelphia and deservedly so at times, as the numbers in the Eagles pass game just aren’t what you’d expect from a quarterback taken second overall in the draft five years ago.

Wentz has completed just 58% of his passes this season – the lowest completion rate of his career and nearly five points below his career average – and he has thrown more interceptions (nine) than touchdown passes (eight).

One thing Wentz has been able to do well this year is run the ball. Through six games, he’s picked up 171 yards along the ground for an average of 6.1 yards per carry and a career high four rushing touchdowns.

Of his 28 rushing attempts, seven of those have come within the red zone and four of them have gone for touchdowns.

One of his more reliable targets over the years, tight end Zach Ertz, is expected to miss three-to-four weeks with an ankle injury, and second-year running back Miles Sanders may miss Thursday’s game with an injury as well.

The Eagles don’t have a single player inside the Top 30 in red zone targets. Receiver Travis Fulgham should see an increase here with Philadelphia’s injury situation, and presumably fill-in running back Boston Scott will too.

But if The Eagles get into the red zone on Thursday, I’d expect Wentz to take the ball himself once or twice, even if Philadelphia’s coaching staff may not want their QB opening himself up to big hits.

Pick: Carson Wentz anytime touchdown (+200)

Travis Fulgham total receiving yards

There have been few bright spots for the Eagles this season, but one of them has been the emergence of second-year wide receiver Travis Fulgham.

In three games, he has become the go-to target for quarterback Carson Wentz, with 18 catches for 284 yards. That’s an average of 15.8 yards per catch, and three of his catches have been for 20 yards or more.

The Giants have given up 7.5 yards per catch this season, and with some key injuries to members of the Eagles offense, it’s expected that Fulgham will see a healthy share of targets again on Thursday.

He has 26 targets through three games, including 23 in his last two outings. That should bode well for Fulgham's chances of seeing the ball against this Giants defense, and if he’s able to convert targets into catches at a reasonable rate, the Over 55.5 total receiving yards prop should hit.

Pick: Over 55.5 receiving yards (-120)

Devonta Freeman total rushing yards

Devonta Freeman isn’t going to put up the same big totals he did when he was in Atlanta, but the veteran running back is still being heavily leaned on to rush the ball in the Giants offense.

Freeman is averaging 3.2 yards per carry (164 rushing yards on 51 attempts) which is far from great, but he has seen an increase in carries each week. It hasn’t mattered if the Giants are behind or ahead in games. They’ve used Freeman plenty in most junctures of a game with the exception of the fourth quarter.

If the Giants are able to keep this game close, they should stick with the run. Philadelphia has given up 753 rushing yards on 182 opposition carries, for an average of 4.1 yards per carry. The opportunity for Freeman to churn up some yards on the ground should be there.

Pick: Over 54.4 rushing yards (-120)
