*This article has since been updated to reflect Joe Burrow's record against each NFL team as of Feb. 13, 2022.

"Joey Franchise," "Joe Cool," "Joe Shiesty," and "Joe Thorough" are just a few of the many nicknames Joe Burrow has inherited as a result of his star-turning performance during his second season in the NFL.

The Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback from LSU, who set several NCAA records on his way to a national title in 2020, has brought the same brand of swagger to the Cincinnati Bengals, who drafted him with the first pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Had it not been for a season-ending leg injury during his first year in the league, Burrow might have been named Offensive Rookie of the Year. Instead, he secured Comeback Player of the Year for his success in 2021, in which he helped Cincinnati go from worst to first in the AFC North.

Burrow capped off his stunning second season with a narrow 23-20 loss to the Los Angeles Rams in Super Bowl LVI. Let's further explore the budding career of Burrow, as we examine his regular-season and postseason records against every NFL team.

Burrow vs. the Baltimore Ravens

Against AFC North rival Baltimore, Burrow is 2-1, with his lone loss a 27-3 setback in Week 5 of his rookie season.

The 2021 season produced a far different outcome, as Burrow turned in career performances in both regular-season divisional matchups.

In Week 7, he passed for 416 yards and three touchdowns in a 41-17 beatdown of Lamar Jackson & Co.

Then, in Week 16, Burrow completed 37 of 46 passes for a career-high 525 yards, four scores, and a career-high 143.2 passer rating in a 41–21 victory.

With 525 passing yards, @Bengals Joe Burrow finished 30 yards shy of breaking Norm Van Brocklin's @NFL record for a single-game.

Burrow's 525 yards were the fourth most passing yards by any quarterback in an NFL game and broke Boomer Esiason's single-game franchise record.

The Week 16 win clinched Cincinnati's first winning record since 2015 and moved the team to first in the AFC North. Burrow was also named AFC Offensive Player of the Week.

Burrow vs. the Cleveland Browns

Burrow has had far more trouble against AFC North foe Cleveland and is 0-3 against the team, thus far.

However, Burrow did record his first NFL passing touchdown against the Browns on a 23-yard throw to tight end C.J. Uzomah in Week 2 of Burrow's rookie season.

Burrow also completed 37 of his 61 passes in that outing, which broke the NFL record for most completions in a single game by a rookie quarterback.

In Week 7 of 2020, Burrow made more history against Cleveland, as he became the first rookie with at least 400 passing yards, three passing touchdowns, and a rushing score in a single game.

Burrow vs. the Jacksonville Jaguars

Burrow's first career win came against the lowly Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 4 of 2020. In that victory, Burrow also became the first rookie quarterback to pass for 300 or more yards in three straight games.

In Week 4 of the following season, Burrow faced Jacksonville on Thursday Night Football and pulled off a narrow, 24-21 win in Cincinnati. He earned AFC Offensive Player of the Week behind 348 passing yards and two touchdown passes.

Burrow vs. the Kansas City Chiefs

One of the most notable victories in Burrow's young career occurred against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 17 of the 2021 season.

In a 34-31 win over Patrick Mahomes and his high-flying offense, Burrow was the superior QB that day, with 446 yards, four touchdowns, and no interceptions.

Burrow sat the following game, in Week 18, as Cincinnati had clinched a playoff bid. He finished the 2021 season with 4,611 passing yards and 34 touchdown passes, both franchise records, and led the league in completion percentage (70.4%) and yards per pass attempt (8.9).

In the 2022 AFC Championship Game, Burrow visited Arrowhead Stadium for a rematch with the Chiefs and won 27-24 for a chance to play in Super Bowl LVI.

Burrow vs. the Los Angeles Chargers

The Los Angeles Chargers were Burrow's first NFL opponent, whom he faced in Week 1 of 2020.

Burrow was the only rookie quarterback from his draft class to start on opening week. In his first career start, he piled up 193 passing yards and tossed an interception, while he ran for 46 yards and a rushing touchdown in the 16–13 loss.

Burrow vs. the Washington Football Team

Week 11 of Burrow's rookie year saw his season prematurely come to an end, when he was injured on a hit by two Washington defenders in the second half of a 20-9 defeat.

Burrow tore his ACL and MCL in his left knee and was placed on injured reserve for the remainder of the season.

He finished his rookie year with 2,688 yards, 13 touchdown passes, and five interceptions through 10 games.

Burrow vs. the Las Vegas Raiders

In 2021, Burrow made his first career postseason appearance against the Las Vegas Raiders in the Wild Card Round.

He completed over 70% of his passes for 244 yards and two scores in a 26–19 win, which marked Cincinnati's first playoff victory since January 1991.

A win three decades in the making: Joe Burrow threw two TD passes and and the Cincinnati Bengals finally advanced in the playoffs with a 26-19 win over the Las Vegas Raiders in a wild-card game. It's the first postseason win for the Bengals since 1991. https://t.co/PeBl4DRe3B

Burrow vs. the Los Angeles Rams

Burrow was minutes away from an NFL title in Super Bowl LVI, until the Rams scored on a one-yard pass to Cooper Kupp to seal a 23-20 victory.

Burrow finished the game with 263 yards and a touchdown on 22-of-33 passing and was sacked a record-tying seven times.

Burrow vs. the Tennessee Titans

In the Divisional Round of the 2021 season, Burrow faced the top-seeded Tennessee Titans and running back Derrick Henry.

A 3.5-point underdog, Cincinnati upset the home team, 19-16, as Burrow threw for 348 yards and an interception. He also became the most-sacked quarterback to win a playoff contest, with nine sacks taken on the day.

The Divisional Round victory also signified the Bengals' first playoff road win in franchise history.
