On Oct. 15 of the 2023 NFL season, Baltimore Ravens placekicker Justin Tucker — arguably the greatest kicker in NFL history — successfully converted on six field-goal attempts in a 24-16 Week 6 victory over the Tennessee Titans.

More than two months later, on New Year's Eve, Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker matched Tucker's season high with six field goals made in a 25-17 win over the Cincinnati Bengals, in which Butker was responsible for the final 18 points of the game.

Both Tucker and Butker currently sit in a multi-way tie for 11th on the all-time list for most field goals made in an NFL matchup. While six in one outing is a lot, there are 10 players who have successfully kicked more field goals in a single NFL contest.

Below YouBet outlines the list of players who have made the most field goals in a game throughout NFL history, with the late Rob Bironas sitting atop the group for nearly two decades now.

Most field goals made in an NFL game: Rob Bironas (8)

Longtime Tennessee Titans kicker Rob Bironas etched his name in NFL history on Oct. 21, 2007, when the All-Pro placekicker nailed eight field goals in a 38-36 victory over the Houston Texans.

Bironas recorded the first three points of the contest with a 52-yard field goal with 12:30 to go in the first quarter and proceeded to tie the record for most field goals made in a single half (five). He also sank a 29-yard field goal as time expired in regulation to seal a win for the Titans.

In addition to his eight field goals, Bironas hit two extra-point attempts, securing the NFL record for most points scored in a game without a touchdown (26). The only other points for the Titans came on a one-yard rushing touchdown by LenDale White in the second quarter and a four-yard rushing touchdown by Chris Henry near the end of the third quarter.

Bironas was later named AFC Player of the Month for October, as he made 13 of 14 field goals (92.9%) and all six extra-point attempts for the month, helping the Titans to a 3-1 record during that time period. He contributed 45 of Tennessee's 81 points in October as well.

The most recent player to come close to Bironas' record was Miami Dolphins kicker Jason Sanders, who sank seven field goals in a 22-21 loss to the New York Jets on Dec. 8, 2019. Sanders attempted eight field goals on the day but missed a 34-yarder with nearly six minutes remaining in the third quarter.

Prior to Sanders, Jets kicker Jason Myers, now on the Seattle Seahawks, hit seven field goals and three extra-point attempts in a 42-34 win over the Indianapolis Colts on Oct. 14, 2018.

Most field goals made in a single NFL playoff game (6)

When it comes to the NFL postseason, Pittsburgh Steelers veteran Chris Boswell owns the record with six field goals made in an 18-16 victory over the Chiefs in a Divisional Round matchup on Jan. 15, 2017. Boswell was the only Steelers player to score points in the contest, while the Chiefs earned their 16 points on a pair of touchdowns and a 48-yard field goal. Kansas City failed to convert on a two-point conversion following their second touchdown with 2:43 left in the fourth quarter.

Butker (Super Bowl LVIII), San Francisco's Ray Wersching (Super Bowl XVI), and Green Bay's Don Chandler (Super Bowl II) are in a three-way tie for most field goals in a single Super Bowl, with four apiece.

Most field goals missed in an NFL game (6)

On the other side of history, the Saint Louis Cardinals' Jim Bakken missed the most field goals in a single NFL game, when he failed on six attempts in a 16-10 defeat to the Atlanta Falcons on Dec. 11, 1966. Bakken only made one of his seven overall attempts in the contest. He's also the first player to make seven field goals in one game, which he accomplished on Sept. 24, 1967.
