NFC Championship Player Props - Robert Woods An Undersung (and worthy) Play

Prop betting is popular for bettors and big business at the sportsbooks. The Super Bowl will be a smorgasbord for proposition bets with the menu of options enormous, and a feast for sports betting fans. Here is an appetizer to consider for the NFC Championship player props between the Saints and LA Rams in New Orleans.

2019 NFC Championship Player Prop Bets Drew Brees Passing Yards O/U 299.5 Passing Yards Alvin Kamara O/U 4.5 Receptions Michael Thomas O/U 0.5 Touchdowns Jared Goff O/U 285.5 Passing Yards Todd Gurley O/U 64.5 Rushing Yards

All of those players have high profiles that speak for themselves, but there's one player in particular who you should be focusing on, and that's Robert Woods (WR - Los Angeles Rams) who is getting a total of 5.5 receptions and 76.5 of receiving yards. For me, his one of the best takes to wager on in NFC Championship player props.

The Saints are a 3-point favorite and the sports books are expecting plenty of scoring on the fast indoor track with the over/under set at 57 points. Woods is one of the league’s most underrated and overlooked receivers. Despite playing on one of the top team and the Rams leading receiver this season with 86 receptions for 1,219 yards and 6 touchdowns, Woods is not mentioned as often as some of the league’s other name brand receivers. Rams quarterback Jared Goff says Woods “has the best hands of any receiver I’ve ever played with”, and he’s a consistent and complete receiver in all facets including blocking, screening and of course catching the football.

The 26-year-old Woods was the top target in last week’s win over the Cowboys as Goff targeted Woods 8 times and he caught a team high 6 balls for 69 yards. He was the Rams leading receiver in their one playoff game last year with 9 catches for 142 yards. And in the Week 9 shootout loss to the Saints 45-35, Woods was targeted a team high 9 times and caught 5 passes for 71 yards.

Robert Woods (WR - Los Angeles Rams) – Over 5.5 receptions and Over 76.5 yards in NFC Championship Player Props

The Rams have great balance on offense and they run the ball 29.9 times per game to rank among the league leaders, which should point you towards Gurley's rushing totals as well depending on how well you think the Saints matchup against him. That’s important against a Saints run defense that was best in the NFL allowing 3.6 yards per rush. But the Rams are going to attack the Saints suspect secondary and cornerbacks, and Eli Apple will have his hands full with Woods or Brandin Cooks. Apple has allowed a number of receivers to have some big games since he came over from the Giants in an October trade. Julio Jones, Antonio Brown and JuJu Smith Schuster all went for at least 115 receiving yards with double-digit receptions. Mike Evans, DJ Moore and Michael Gallop all had at 75 or more receiving yards and at least 15 yards per reception. Gallop should have had more as he burned Apple on a double move but QB Prescott missed him for a 55-yard touchdown. And Amari Cooper and last week’s playoff receiver Alshon Jeffery also had solid games with at least 63 receiving yards as the top target in far less explosive offenses than the Rams possess.

Goff passed for 391 yards in the Week 9 game at New Orleans, and Woods had 5 receptions for 79 yards and was targeted a team high 9 times by his quarterback. With WR Copper Kupp sidelined, Woods is going to have more opportunities to make an impact in the NFC Championship game.

Don’t’ be surprised to see Rams WR Brandin Cooks have a big game also, as he had 6 receptions for a team-high 114 yards and one touchdown in the Week 9 shootout at New Orleans. But let's target Robert Woods as the primary threat and go long for the score with some side pot action.

NFC Championship Player Props Bet - Robert Woods OVER 5.5 receptions and OVER 76.5 yards.
