NFL Week 6 betting tips: Back Matthew Stafford against the Jags

Week 6 has arrived in the NFL and after no Thursday Night Football, this feast of fixtures cannot come soon enough! Our football itch is about to be scratched with a whopper slate of fantastic games (and of course Washington against the Giants!)

Without further ado, here are the four hottest prop bets I can find this Sunday, starting off with Matthew Stafford putting in a monster day at Jacksonville.

BOOM: Matthew Stafford (Over 282.5 passing yards -115)

The song says you get by with a little help from your friends, and that is definitely the case for Matthew Stafford who will no doubt be delighted that Kenny Golladay has shaken off the injury that kept him out of the first couple of weeks.

Stafford has attempted more than 30 passes in each game this season, and off the bye week the Lions have had the better part of two weeks to prepare for their trip to Jacksonville. The Jags are one of the weakest teams in the league against the pass, as evidenced by the fact that DeShaun Watson, Joe Burrow, and Philip Rivers have all thrown for more than 300 yards against them this year.

The match between the Lions and the Jags has a total line of 54.5, so there are big scores expected, and Matthew Stafford can light Jacksonville up.

BUST: Robby Anderson (Under 66.5 receiving yards +115)

How many players have racked up more receiving yards than Robby Anderson through the first five games I hear you ask? Well, DeAndre Hopkins, Stefon Diggs and D.K. Metcalf – that’s it. Just those three guys. So, with Anderson in such hot form, reeling in 36 catches for 489 yards this season, why am I backing him to bust?

Before the men in white coats drag me away, hear me out. Anderson is going up against the Bears, one of the stronger teams against the pass in the league. Danny Amendola and Calvin Ridley are the only two players to go for more than 65 receiving yards against the Bears this year, and Anderson is set to go toe-to-toe with cornerback Kyle Fuller.

Fuller has seen 34 passes come his way this season, and has given up just 16 catches and 168 yards. That points to a seriously tough contest for Anderson, and the Panthers stud may dip under expectations this week.

BOOM: David Johnson (Over 58.5 rushing yards -115)

David Johnson is fresh off his most productive game of the year, as he ran for 96 yards on 17 carries. Now he gets to feast on the Titans!

Tennessee has one of the worst rush defences in the league and has given up a staggering 5.5 yards per rush. In Week 1, Melvin Gordon piled up 78 yards on 15 carries. James Robinson followed up in Week 2 with 102 yards. Dalvin Cook destroyed the Titans for 181 yards in Week 3.

Devin Singletary didn’t find much joy in Week 4, but David Johnson should bring Tennessee back to earth with a bang. Expect Johnson to get another 15-to-16 touches on Sunday and rack up the yards in the process.

BUST: Terry McLaurin (Under 68.5 receiving yards -115)

Washington’s trip to play the Giants has the potential to be one of the worst games of the weekend thanks to two very poor offences, but don’t let that put you off making some money on it!

Terry McLaurin has plenty of talent, but there’s no hiding the fact he’s playing in a shockingly poor offence. Quarterback Dwayne Haskins has been demoted, and Kyle Allen is likely stepping in next ahead of Alex Smith. Unfortunately, that change won’t help McLaurin's cause.

— New York Giants (@Giants) August 21, 2020

McLaurin has had an average of nine targets per game, which is a healthy number, but he brought in just three catches for 26 yards against the Rams and now faces Giants conerback James Bradberry. Bradberry limited Robert Woods to 35 yards in Week 4, and allowed Amari Cooper just 23 yards in Week 5, so he'll be confident in his ability to stop McLaurin on Sunday.
