Packers look to stay atop NFC North in MNF showdown against Lions

Jones made his case in Dallas last week, with 107 yards rushing, 75 yards receiving and four touchdowns An encore performance would be welcome in Wisconsin, as the Pack’s leading wide receiver, Davante Adams, is again doubtful with what is being labeled a major toe injury.
Things will likely be more difficult this week against Lions run stuffers Trey Flowers, A’Shawn Robinson and Romeo Okwara.

Statistically, Matt Stafford has been playing better than counterpart Aaron Rodgers this year. With Adams out Stafford will be throwing the ball to the better group of receivers in this game. Marvin Jones Jr. and Kenny Golladay have both been playing above expectations.
An underrated facet of this game that may go a long way is tight end play. The Lions certainly have a star in the making in T.J. Hockenson, but backups Jesse James and Logan Thomas are also playing well when called upon. The Packers have been utilizing three tight ends, as well. Two are older hands—the once electric Jimmy Graham and the reliable Marcedes Lewis. The third member of the trio is second-year pro Robert Tonyan, who is more of a passing-downs player.

This game will get particularly interesting when the Lions have the ball. Detroit's receivers may have met their match in Green Bay’s secondary. This is a scary-good secondary and it has played well, despite little help from the defensive line, which currently ranks dead last in adjusted-line yards. If the Packers can get the Lions into passing-down situations, they should have an edge.
When the Packers have the ball, I don’t see any obvious advantages for either side. Green Bay right tackle Bryan Bulaga has been playing great, but outside of last week, the run game has been somewhat stuck in the mud. Even without obvious advantages, I’ll put my stock in Aaron Rodgers to find a way.
The Lions have won four straight games against the Packers. It feels wrong even typing that. On Monday night I look for the Packers to have a balanced offensive attack and for their defense to turn Stafford over multiple times in an important divisional win.
