Patrick Mahomes favored to lead NFL in passing yards in Week 16

Among the more intriguing markets in the Sunday leaders prop bets department on BetAmerica this week is most passing yards. Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is a solid favorite at +350, and it’s easy to see why. The 2020 NFL MVP candidate leads all passers in yards through the air this season and draws a highly-favorable matchup with the Atlanta Falcons’ 31st-rated pass stoppers (287.7 yards allowed per game).

However, longshot players are not without hope here. These are the three quarterbacks most likely to upset Mahomes and post the most passing yards in the league this Sunday.

Matt Ryan (+1100)

Right across the field from Mahomes this Sunday will be Matt Ryan, whom the Falcons have relied on heavily in 2020. Not surprisingly, Ryan is fourth in the NFL in passing yards this season.

Assuming Atlanta’s defense can’t contain Mahomes, Ryan will be forced to take to the air early and often at Arrowhead Stadium. The Boston College product is fresh off a 356-yard output against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, his third-highest passing total of the season.

Deshaun Watson (+1200)

Houston Texans signal caller Deshaun Watson entered Week 16 second in the NFL in passing yards this season (4,134). He draws a fairly easy matchup with the Cincinnati Bengals and their 20th-rated pass stoppers (244.0 yards allowed per game).

Watson has been in good form lately, passing for no fewer than 318 yards in four of his last five contests. The Bengals have gotten off easy with opposing quarterbacks since their Week 9 bye, facing a struggling Ben Roethlisberger (twice), Andy Dalton, Tua Tagovailoa, Daniel Jones and Alex Smith. They could be in for a rude awakening on Sunday.

Justin Herbert (+1400)

Sensational rookie signal caller Justin Herbert looks due for another fine outing at SoFi Stadium against the Denver Broncos this Sunday.

Herbert went for 314 yards against the Las Vegas Raiders in a 30-27 overtime victory 10 days ago. It was the seventh time in his rookie campaign that the Oregon product was able to eclipse the 300-yard plateau.

The Broncos bring their 12th-ranked pass stoppers into this one, but this unit was torched by Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen last week (352 passing yards allowed).
