Rams vs. Bengals: The best touchdown scorer prop bets for Super Bowl LVI

One of the most entertaining prop bets for any football game is a wager on who will find the end zone, and the Super Bowl is no exception.

Here are the players in Super Bowl LVI, between the Los Angeles Rams and the Cincinnati Bengals, who offer the best value to score a touchdown in Sunday’s big game.

Bengals WR Tee Higgins

With the attention that Ja’Marr Chase is sure to attract from the Rams' stud cornerback Jalen Ramsey, Higgins should have plenty of opportunities to get targeted by Joe Burrow on Sunday.

For all his exploits this season, Chase has caught touchdowns in just two of his last seven games, both of which were scored in games against Kansas City.

While Higgins has not caught a touchdown in the playoffs, he has been targeted 19 times over the past two games, with at least six catches in both games. He has seen double-digit targets four times during the regular season, and he caught four of his six touchdowns over the final six games.

Ramsey is questionable to play in the Super Bowl as he deals with a shoulder injury, but even if he plays, he won’t be at full strength and is certain to be locked on Chase. Darious Williams is a significant drop-off, and should Higgins be matched up instead with Don’t’e Deayon or David Long Jr., he would easily have a matchup advantage.

One other interesting tidbit is that if Williams is in fact matched up with Higgins, he will be giving up seven inches in height to the 6’4” Bengals receiver. That is the kind of matchup I’ll bet on any day in the red zone.

Pick: Higgins to score a touchdown anytime (+135)

Rams TE Kendall Blanton

This is my favorite pick of the bunch. Matthew Stafford has targeted tight ends inside the 10-yard line on nearly one-fifth of his throws this season, and only one player had a higher share of Rams targets inside the 10-yard line than tight end Tyler Higbee.

With Higbee doubtful to play in the Super Bowl after getting injured in the opening minutes of the NFC Championship Game, Kendall Blanton becomes a real threat to score. He played more than 60 snaps against the 49ers, and he caught all five of his targets for 57 yards.

Blanton is a 6’6” rookie who caught just four passes during the regular season, but was not fazed by the spotlight of the playoffs. He also caught the opening touchdown from Stafford in the Rams' 30-27 win over the Buccaneers in the Divisional Round.

In the AFC Championship Game between Cincinnati and Kansas City, Travis Kelce led the Chiefs with 10 catches for 95 yards and a touchdown. Raiders tight end Darren Waller led the team in targets (12), catches (seven), and yards (76) in the Bengals' Wild Card battle with Las Vegas.

Cincinnati can be hurt by the tight end position, and with the attention Cooper Kupp will receive in the red zone, I like Blanton to get his hands on a pass in the end zone.

Pick: Kendall Blanton to score a touchdown anytime (+240)

Rams WR Odell Beckham Jr.

Speaking of Kupp, it is almost certain he is going to find the end zone. Unfortunately, there is not much value in betting him to do so. However, I think the Bengals are going to heavily focus on trying to limit his ability to hurt them early in the game.

This is where OBJ offers tremendous value, especially to strike paydirt first. He has scored six touchdowns in his last nine games, with one coming in the playoffs. His postseason touchdown came in the Wild Card Game against the Cardinals, where he opened the scoring with a four-yard haul.

Over the past two games, OBJ has caught 15 passes, including nine catches for 113 yards on 11 targets against the 49ers. Coming off his first postseason 100-yard game, Beckham is in the best form of the season, and his chemistry with Stafford has grown with every game. He also gives Stafford a fade option in close that Kupp doesn’t offer, as exhibited against Arizona.

Eli Apple is a solid corner, but he’s been prone to giving up big plays this season, and I think Stafford will look to take advantage of mismatches, with Kupp getting all the eyeballs on him.

Look for OBJ to take advantage early and open the scoring in Super Bowl LVI.

Pick: Odell Beckham Jr. to score first touchdown (+800)
