Russell Wilson's record against every NFL team

*This article has since been updated to reflect Russell Wilson's record against each NFL team as of Dec. 21, 2021.

The NFL Most Valuable Player Award still eludes quarterback Russell Wilson, but his value to the Seattle Seahawks has long been undeniable.

Since Wilson became Seattle's starter as a rookie in 2012, the eight-time Pro Bowler has reached the postseason every year but one (2017), appeared in the Super Bowl twice, and won one title in 2014.

In 2015, Wilson became the first and only passer in NFL history to record more than 4,000 passing yards, more than 30 touchdown passes, and more than 500 rushing yards in the same season.

In 2020, he set the record for most wins by a quarterback through nine seasons (98) and is one of just four QBs with a career passer rating better than 100.

Despite his impressive numbers, Wilson has never received a single vote for league MVP.

To prove just how critical he has been to Seattle's success, let's do a deep dive into Wilson's illustrious career and break down his regular-season and postseason records against every NFL team.

Wilson vs. the Arizona Cardinals

Wilson has reached a number of milestones against his NFC West rival.

On Sept. 9, 2012, he made his debut as a starter in a Week 1 matchup in Arizona, where he completed 53% of his passes for 153 yards, one touchdown, and threw an interception in a 20-16 loss.

Wilson has since recorded 10 victories against the Cardinals and experienced the only tie of his career — a 6-6 result on Oct. 23, 2016.

On Nov. 19, 2020, Wilson threw his 30th touchdown of the season. That pass made Wilson only the third quarterback in NFL history to record 30 touchdown passes over four straight seasons.

With two TD passes tonight in the first half, Russell Wilson joins Drew Brees (9 straight seasons) and Brett Favre (five) as the only NFL QBs ever with 30 touchdown passes in at least four consecutive seasons. #Seahawks

Wilson vs. the Denver Broncos

In just his second year in the league, Wilson earned his only Super Bowl ring, against Peyton Manning's Broncos in Super Bowl XLVIII.

Although Wilson put up a solid passing performance (18-of-25, for 206 yards and two scores), Super Bowl MVP went to linebacker Malcolm Smith, who tallied 10 tackles, a fumble recovery, and an interception returned for a touchdown in the 43-8 demolition.

Wilson vs. the Green Bay Packers

Wilson is 3-4 in the regular season and 1-1 in the postseason against Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers.

His most significant win occurred in the NFC Championship Game in 2015, when Seattle edged Green Bay, 28-22, in overtime.

Aaron Rodgers would drive the Packers down the field to setup the game tying field goal for OT. But Russell Wilson led a 6 play drive capped off by this touchdown pass to Jermaine Kearse (he had a rough game as well). (2/4) pic.twitter.com/szFOzg4vO8

In that matchup, Wilson tossed a whopping four interceptions. He made up for his turnover-prone outing with a game-winning, 35-yard touchdown pass to Jermaine Kearse in extra minutes.

Wilson vs. the Los Angeles Rams

The one NFC West team with a winning record against Wilson is the Rams.

In 18 regular-season matchups, Wilson is 8-12 against the Rams, while he lost his only postseason game against Los Angeles last season in the Wild Card Round.

The Chargers are the only other franchise with an overall winning record (regular season and postseason combined) against Wilson.

Wilson vs. the Minnesota Vikings

In Wilson's first six regular season games against Minnesota, Seattle downed the Vikings by an average margin of 14 points, and defeated Minnesota 10-9 in the 2016 Wild Card Round.

Minnesota finally picked up a "w" against Wilson on Sept. 26, 2021, when the Vikings eked out a hard-fought 30-17 victory. Wilson was held to 298 passing yards and just a single TD on the day.

Wilson vs. the New England Patriots

Wilson is 3-0 against New England in the regular season, but his one playoff meeting with the Patriots, in Super Bowl XLIX, will forever live in infamy.

In the most mind-blowing play call in recent Super Bowl history, head coach Pete Carroll opted to pass from New England's 1-yard line, on second and goal, with 26 seconds remaining, as Seattle trailed 28-24.

Instead of a handoff to bruising back Marshawn Lynch, Carroll looked to Wilson for an easy (but risky) short pass to receiver Ricardo Lockette.

In stepped Patriots cornerback Malcom Butler, who intercepted Wilson’s pass and clinched the win for New England.

Wilson vs. the New Orleans Saints

Wilson is 2-1 overall against both Tom Brady and New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees, both future Hall of Famers.

Like Wilson, Brees has never won NFL MVP, even though he has achieved a slew of NFL records.

Wilson vs. the San Francisco 49ers

Of his three NFC West foes, Wilson has been most successful against the 49ers.

In 19 head-to-head clashes, he has only lost to San Francisco four times, and all four were by seven or fewer points.

Wilson also defeated the Niners, 23-17, in the NFC Championship Game, on the way to his first Super Bowl title.

No defense has surrendered more touchdowns (36) to Wilson than the 49ers.
