Euro 2020: Czech Republic vs. Denmark betting odds, preview, and pick

Czech Republic stunned the Netherlands in the Last 16 with a convincing 2-0 win to secure a quarter final clash with Denmark in the Baku Olympic Stadium in Turkey. The Danes themselves have overcome the shock of Cristian Eriksen’s horrible incident and back-to-back group defeats to blow away Russia and smash Wales as they start to build up some momentum.

A victory here will move one of these teams to just 90 minutes away from a European Championship final so the stakes could not possibly be much higher.

Denmark are favourites at +107 to win within 90 minutes and -182 to go through to the semi-final. Czech Republic are +300 to win inside the 90 and +140 to qualify in either extra-time or after penalties. It’s +225 to finish in a draw at the final whistle.

Dominant Danes

Even without the talents of Christian Eriksen, the Danes have been dominant in attack. Only Italy (21.8) have averaged more shots per game than Denmark (18.8), and the Danes haven’t gone a single game in this tournament with less than 16 attempts on goal. They also average a staggering 7.3 shots on target per game. Spain (6.5) is the only other team to average more than five.

The Czech Republic have been defensively solid, conceding just twice in four matches and giving up just 10.3 shots to the opposition per game, but the Danes attack-minded style of play leans us again towards backing the Overs on the prop lines. It’s worth backing Over 12.5 Denmark shots at -125, and Over 3.5 Denmark shots on target at -155, especially as those lines include extra time.

Czech Us Out

The Czech’s have surprised plenty of pundits by sealing a quarter final place. They were a distant second to England in qualifying and got through the Group Stage as one of the best third-placed teams, before shocking the Netherlands 2-0.

But they have shown enough quality in recent matches to back up this last eight appearance. They topped their Nations League group, frustrated Belgium 1-1 in a World Cup Qualifier, and similarly restricted England in the 1-0 defeat in the group. They are not easy to break down, and have only conceded more than once in two of their last 15 games.

It’s -186 that the game has Under 2.5 goals, a bet that would’ve clicked in 10 of Czech Republic’s last 13 games.

Schick it to the man

The leading man in Czech Republic’s charge towards Euro 2020 glory has been Patrik Schick. Not only did he score that absolute wonder goal from the halfway line against Scotland, but he’s also backed it up with more goals against Croatia and the Netherlands. That puts him on four for the tournament and he’s +290 to score at anytime against Denmark as he hunts down the Golden Boot.

This game looks set to be close, and although Denmark are heavily favoured in the betting, Czech Republic will not make it easy for them. They can ride the Danish storm and take this game to extra time, so 1-1 at +525 looks like a good bet with Denmark eventually qualifying at -182.
