France favored to win UEFA Euro 2020

Euro 2020 qualifying is set to hit fever pitch this week, and now is the perfect time to start thinking about which teams have the talent and determination to win next summer’s European Championships.

France (+350)

The French are defending World Cup champions, and they’ve only improved since they won the world’s most prestigious tournament two years ago. Kylian Mbappé is one of the best players in the world, and N’Golo Kante and Paul Pogba will look to get in on the action as well. Antoine Griezmann will be a factor on the wing, and their defense will be top notch once Samuel Umtiti comes back from injury. The last time France won the World Cup in 1998, it turned right around and won the Euros in 2000. Going to doubt them this time around? Do so at your own peril.

England (+450)

England reached the semifinals of the 2018 World Cup, and it will be looking to take it to the next level and win the Euros next year. The English attack is stellar, with Harry Kane, Raheem Sterling and Marcus Rashford coming at you, and options like Jadon Sancho and Tammy Abraham off the bench. In the middle Mason Mount and Jesse Lingard can also hurt you on the scoreboard, and Kyle Walker and Kieran Trippier will command the back line. If England can put it all together, the European Championship could be coming home.

Belgium (+700)

There’s a reason that Belgium is the No. 1 team in the world. Eden Hazard, Romelu Lukaku and Kevin De Bruyne are at the top of their game right now, and they go right at teams. They reached the semis of the 2018 World Cup, and this golden generation is now poised to go trophy hunting. Their success will ride on the performance of goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois. If he can play like the best keeper in the world, Belgium will be standing tall as the Euro 2020 champions.

Germany (+800)

Germany is looking to reclaim its title as the world’s best team. After the Germans crashed out of the group stage in the 2018 World Cup, they have been on a rampage. They’re led by Toni Kroos and Joshua Kimmich in the middle, with Timo Werner and Serge Gnabry options up front with Marco Reus. They have two of the top goalkeepers in the world in Manuel Neuer and Marc-André ter Stegen. The question will be whether their revamped defense can hold up against Europe’s best. If it can, Germany will be in a familiar position to lift up yet another trophy.

Italy (+1400)

Italy missed the 2018 World Cup, the first time in 70 years that event did not have the Azzurri present. The Italians have revamped their entire roster and brought in several young players who are poised to carry Italy into 2020 and beyond. Gianluigi Donnarumma may be the best young keeper on the planet, and he will be holding down the fort for the Italians, while Leonardo Bonucci will be the experienced commander on the back line. Jorginho will be the man in the middle, and Andrea Belotti will be called on to provide scoring up front. Don’t count out the Italians to undergo a renaissance that ends with them as Euro 2020 champions.
