Premier League parlay picks for Matchweek 28

It’s the last Premier League weekend before St. Patrick’s Day, and hopefully the luck of the Irish is shining down on our Premier League parlay. We won’t be relying on shamrocks, leprechauns, or lucky charms as we put our cash instead on in-form teams battling for Champions League football.

Hopefully, we will still find that pot of gold.

Chelsea to beat Leeds United

Chelsea come into this game still unbeaten under new gaffer Thomas Tuchel. The German has guided Chelsea to eight wins and three draws since taking over at the end of January. The gaffer has really shored up Chelsea’s backline and they’ve now kept four clean sheets on the bounce in difficult games away to Atletico Madrid and Liverpool, and at home to Manchester United and Everton.

That good form has lifted Chelsea into the top four, but Leeds are going the opposite way. The Yorkshire side have dropped into the bottom half of the table after losing four of the last five and the goals that were flying in earlier this season have completely dried up.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side have failed to score in three of their last four games, and they haven’t exactly been tough – away to West Ham and Wolves either side of a home game with Aston Villa.

Chelsea’s watertight defense and growing confidence will be enough to put Leeds away at Elland Road.

Crystal Palace vs. West Brom: Under 2.5 Goals (-165)

Get ready for a snoozefest. In West Brom’s last six games they have scored just two goals. In Crystal Palace’s last six games they’ve found the net just three times. Sheffield United are the only other side with fewer than three goals in their last six games.

Bottom line? Neither time have a habit of getting on the scoresheet.

In Palace’s 14 home games this season 64% of them have featured Under 2.5 goals – with only Sheffield United and Burnley home supporters seeing less goalmouth action. That figure jumps to 83% when you just consider the Eagles’ games with teams in the bottom seven.

West Brom have played 11 games against sides in the bottom seven and 73% of them have seen Under 2.5 goals.

Expect this to be a low-quality, uninspiring affair, and take the Unders.

Everton to beat Burnley

Everton lost 2-0 vs. Chelsea on Monday night, but don’t let that result distract you from some solid form from Carlo Ancelotti’s men. Before that the Toffees had strung together three very good league wins on the spin, winning the Merseyside Derby at Anfield before grinding out two hard-fought 1-0 wins against Southampton and West Brom.

Burnley have just one win in their last 10 games in all competitions, and worryingly for the Clarets their record versus the top seven this season reads played 11, lost nine, and drawn two. Away from home that record gets worse. They’ve played five matches, losing all of them, conceding 16 goals and scoring just two.

Everton have won five of their last six league meetings at Goodison Park versus Burnley, and should extend that good record here.

Leicester City to beat Sheffield United

Sheffield United are destined for relegation, while Leicester have a brilliant chance of securing Champions League football. That should be all you need to know.

Take out games against the bottom five, and Sheffield United’s season looks like this – played 22, won two, lost 20. You don’t need to be a die-hard football fanatic to realize that is not good.

Leicester going out of the Europa League last month is arguably a good thing as they battle for the best league position possible, and they will get a confidence boost after coming from behind to beat Brighton 2-1 last Saturday.

The Foxes have now lost just one of their last seven league games, and Brendan Rodgers is fully focussed on a top four spot. With difficult games at home to Man City and away to West Ham coming up, Leicester will be keen to take three points here to help their case for Champions League football.

Sheffield Utd stunned Aston Villa recently, but last week lost 2-0 at home to Southampton when the Saints came into the game off the back of eight league losses and one draw in nine games. Leicester are not going to give the Blades that kind of opportunity and this should be a straightforward home win.
