NFL Week 2 Best Bets: Bills travel to Jets following dramatic comeback win

Despite Sunday and Monday night games going Over the total, Unders dominated in Week 1, posting a 12-4 record. When that’s happened previously, Overs performed well the following week, so beware of a market correction in NFL Week 2.

Week 2 looks enticing from a betting standpoint. The Ravens, one of two teams (the Bears are the other) to surrender a double-digit lead in the fourth quarter last week, is the lone team favored by at least seven points, and YouBet.com has scoured the slate and identified the following best bets.

Bills at Jets, MetLife Stadium, 1 p.m.

Bills listed as 6.5-point favorites following a dramatic comeback win, rallying from a 15-point deficit midway through the fourth quarter to prevail, and we’ll watch to see if the line drifts to +7. And we’ll tease it if it doesn’t. Home dogs of seven or more points are 18-1-2 ATS in the first nine games of the season since 2022, with divisional underdogs recording an impressive 66-28-2 ATS mark in Weeks 1 & 2 since 2004. J

ustin Fields flourished in his first start last week, leading the Jets to 32 points and 394 total yards vs a vaunted Steelers defense, and the Jets' defense is eligible to perform much better in Week 2. With a 37.5-point total, the Jets and Steelers combined to score 66 points. In Week 1 games with a total of 65 or more, and an over/under total less than 40, teams are 24-13 ATS the following week. The Bills must guard against a letdown against a rival that knows them well. When rallying from a 14+ point deficit in Week 1, teams 53-72-4 ATS the following week, including a 23-39 ATS mark on the road.

Wager: Jets +7 (-130) for 2 Units

Patriots at Dolphins, Hard Rock Stadium, 1 p.m.

Don’t get caught up in recency bias; teams are not as good, or as bad, as they look in Week 1 most times. And this is a bounce-back spot for the Dolphins following a dreadful opener at Indianapolis, scoreless in the first half and only 211 total yards for the game. Tua Tagovailoa and Mike McDaniel are 4-0 ATS vs the Patriots; Tua owns a 7-0 ATS record vs the Patriots and a losing record vs all other teams. The Patriots lack skill players and an identity on offense. They were outgained by the Raiders in Week 1, allowing 333 passing yards, and continue to struggle in the red zone (1-for-3). Dolphins get back on track in Week 2.

Wager: Dolphins -1.5 (-105) for 2 Units

Giants at Cowboys, AT&T Stadium, 1 p.m.

Giants enter with a 57-28-2 Under record (67%) since 2020; their offense is not good (0-for-2 red zone opportunities Week 1), but defense gave them a chance vs Washington and should exploit a questionable Cowboys offensive line in Week 2. Cowboys caught a huge break when Jalen Carter was kicked out of the opener, enabling them to grind out 307 total yards, but they were sloppy offensively and scoreless in the second half.

Wager: Under 44.5 points (-110) for 2 Units

Broncos at Colts, Lucas Oil Stadium, 4:05 p.m.

Broncos' defense will test Colts, limiting the Titans to 133 total yards in Week 1, but Shane Steichen is 16-8 ATS in September games as Indy’s head coach, and his offense performed at a high level in Week 1, with Daniel Jones completing 22 of 29 passes as the Colts piled up 418 total yards. The Colts forced three turnovers, and Bo Nix enters on a 1-4 ATS run, including a 0-3 ATS record in the last three road games. After leading the Broncos to 31 points vs the Colts last December, Nix is eligible to perform better than he did in Week 1, but we don’t expect a one-sided affair.
