NFL Week 2 Sunday Night Football Betting - NYG at DAL

The New York Giants head to Arlington, Texas to face-off against the NFC East rival Dallas Cowboys in NFL Week 2 Sunday Night Football betting. Both the Giants and Cowboys will fight hard for their first win this season. The winner keeps pace with Philadelphia and Washington while the loser falls into an 0-2 hole. This particular matchup never disappoints, so don't miss the action - literally and figuratively.

NFL WEEK 2 SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL BETTING New York Giants at Dallas Cowboys Sunday, September 16th – AT&T Stadium – 8:20pm ET Odds: Dallas -3 (42.5)

Giants Offense vs Cowboys Defense We know the Giants have a much better offense this season because they managed 15 points against the Jacksonville Jaguars, one of the top defenses in the NFL. Giants’ rookie running back Saquon Barkley rushed for 106 yards and a TD off only 18 carries while Odell Beckham Jr. caught 11-of-15 targets for 111 yards. Both proved to be absolutely electric game breakers who could steal points at any time. Even in heavy coverage, ODB was incredible and Barkley broke through multiple tackles for his spectacular, 62 yard score.

Although Beckham and Barkley played well, we can’t say the same thing about quarterback Eli Manning who didn’t throw a TD but tossed a pick which was a contributing factor in the loss. Manning gets a reprieve by facing a vulnerable Dallas defense that was a mess against Carolina in Week 1. It's also hard to really nail Manning for a weak showing against the Jaguars specifically.

Dallas’s secondary isn’t nearly as talented as the one anchored by Jalen Ramsey, while the Cowboys pass rush has trouble if offenses can block DE DeMarcus Lawrence. It adds up to the Giants having a slight edge in their matchup with the Cowboys in Week 2 Sunday Night Football betting.

Edge: Giants

Cowboys Offense vs Giants Defense Dallas owner Jerry Jones kept telling us that the Cowboys’ passing attack would be “just fine” without TE Jason Witten and WR Dez Bryant. Jones might have tried to convince himself by repeating the statement because the Cowboys’ passing attack was anything but fine in Dallas’ 8-16 loss to Carolina.

Quarterback Dak Prescott went 19-of-29 for 170 yards. Because Carolina didn’t fear Dallas’ passing attack, the Panthers held Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott to 69 yards and a TD from 15 carries. The fears about Dallas's usually unstoppable offensive line came to light in Week 1, and while the Giants don't have a star studded front-seven, they got a gift from the Panthers.

Carolina gave the Giants the blueprint to stop the Cowboys’ offense: pressure Prescott into bad throws and stop the rush. Dallas might have more success stopping the Giants rush than they had against Carolina, but what will it matter? There isn't a receiving threat in Dallas that scares anybody. The Giants will spend plenty of their focus on Zeke, and a once-dynamic Dallas offense seems to be suddenly one dimensional in the most predictable way possible.

Edge: Giants

Giants at Cowboys Betting Analysis and ATS Prediction Most NFL bettors are all over the Giants, but the line hasn’t moved since opening at DAL -3.0. An explanation could be that Cowboys’ fans are rabid about their team beating New York. Homer money doesn’t mean anything and the influence of the public seems to be keeping Dallas steady as a natural home favorite.

The pro bettors might be hoping all that homer money leads to a Cowboys -3.5 spread before hammering the New York Giants.

Even based on trends, the Boys don’t have an apparent advantage in this matchup. The Giants are 5-2 ATS in the last 7 meetings between these iconic franchises. The G-Men will improve on that record after they beat Dallas straight up as a road dog. I love the Giants in this game.
