• Damian Lillard, under 3.5 made threes (+120)

This NBA SGP is correlated because if the Celtics lose by less than 7.5 points, Jayson Tatum is highly likely to score over 34.5 points in the match. Also, Damian Lillard scoring under 3.5 made threes will help us maintain our 7.5-point margin. So, when these events correlate, they deliver a decent SGP option.

SGP betting tip 2: Stacking non-correlated pricing

Non-correlated parlays are when you bet on three disconnected legs. Here’s a wager on the same NBA game but with different SGP selections to show you how it works:

• Boston Celtics +7.5 (-115) @ Milwaukee Bucks
• Jayson Tatum under 34.5 points (-110)
• Damian Lillard over 3.5 made threes (-150)

Here, we’re betting on the Celtics not to lose by more than 7.5 points. But if they manage this, we’re betting against Tatum scoring over 34.5 points and think Lillard will shoot over 3.5 made threes in the match. These three events are much less likely than those presented in the correlated SGP above, hence why it’s known as a non-correlated price.

As a result, in a non-correlated SGP, you’ll get longer odds for better potential returns.

SGP betting tip 3: Don’t bet on your team

One mistake that sports bettors make repeatedly is betting on their team. Doing so clouds your judgment and makes you more likely to bet with your heart, not your head. 

So, even if you see good potential value in your team, don’t include them in your SGP. You’re passionate enough about your favorite’s chances without relying on an SGP to come through.

SGP betting tip 4: Research the latest stats and develop a narrative

The stats don’t lie in sports betting. Giannis Antetokounmpo finished last season with one of the best points average in the league (31.5), turning out for the Bucks. Therefore, he’s the obvious choice for netting over 34.5 points if backing the Bucks to win +7.5 in a three-legged correlated SGP.

While a simple example, you’d be surprised how many beginner SGP bettors don’t even check for averages. Some bettors look solely to the previous two or three matches, confusing recent form with longevity. No matter the sport you’re betting on, rely heavily on stats to form each leg of your SGP to increase your chances of winning.

Developing a narrative takes things one step further. Last season, we know that the Oklahoma Thunder had the best home-court record, 26-3. 

Moreover, given the scoring prowess of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (32.5 season average), we could use him scoring over 30.5 points and the Thunder at +7.5 as the basis for our correlated SGP. Then, by digging into the stats of the Thunder’s opposition, we could add the final leg to give us the best chance of winning.

SGP betting tip 5: Shop around for the best value odds

Finally, don’t just rely on one sportsbook to build your SGP. BetMGM, BetRivers, FanDuel, and Fanatics all offer SGP betting options, and their NBA odds differ from game to game.

We recommend creating an account at several sportsbooks and entering your SGP into each. You will almost certainly find that the odds aren’t the same at every book.

Though the difference might be one or two points, this can add up over the season and offer potentially significant returns if you place high-ticket SGP wagers.

So, don’t fall into the trap of becoming loyal to one sportsbook over another. Go where the value directs you, and always lock in the best odds for your SGP this season.
