In an ongoing tradition, the NFL schedule will feature an “international series.” There will be seven international games in locations like London, England; Sao Paulo, Brazil; Dublin, Ireland; Berlin, Germany; and Madrid, Spain. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell announced the international games in the offseason, and this will be the most international games to date.
Each season, the NFL international series features multiple locations in an attempt to spread the game globally. The NFL granted rights for these seven international games, with London, England, being the traditional home for at least one game each NFL season.
For sports bettors, this portion of the schedule can be quite different. The NFL schedule is tough to nail down as it is, and international games like the NFL London games can make things feel even more different. If you plan to bet on a regular-season game held during the international series, it helps to know more about the event.

Where are the NFL International Games Played in 2025?
One of the most interesting things about these seven international games is that they will be held in several countries. During the opening week of the NFL season, the Kansas City Chiefs will take on the Los Angeles Chargers in Sao Paulo, Brazil, on Sept. 5, marking the second time an NFL game has been played in Sao Paulo.
The NFL international series will take place in five countries: Brazil, Ireland, England, Germany, and Spain. In the past, cities like Mexico City have hosted an NFL game. This will mark two games in Brazil, with this being the first regular-season game to be held in Madrid, Spain.
London Games
The NFL announced three games to be held in London. Of all the countries that have hosted an NFL game, England (specifically London) has become a staple in the yearly NFL schedule. The NFL announced that it will have two games at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, plus one game in the legendary Wembley Stadium.
The games in London are nothing new, especially for a team like the Jacksonville Jaguars. London has hosted them several times, the first in their history being played against the San Francisco 49ers back in 2013. When the league announced the three games held in London, it became inevitable that the Jaguars would be the designated home team in at least one game.
Rounding out the other two of the three games making up the NFL London games, the Minnesota Vikings will take on the Cleveland Browns on Oct. 5, and the Denver Broncos will face the New York Jets on Oct. 12. The Browns and Jets will be the designated home team for this portion of the schedule. Each of the international games will have a 9:30 a.m. EST kickoff and will be hosted on the NFL Network.
Germany Game
With the Brazil game being the first game on the international NFL schedule, things will find their way to Berlin, Germany, on Nov. 9. This NFL game will feature the Atlanta Falcons taking on the Indianapolis Colts, the latter being credited with a home game. Berlin has been granted rights a few times before, one of two cities to receive an NFL game with consistency.
The first time the NFL went to Germany, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers defeated the Seattle Seahawks. The Colts have been there previously, playing an NFL game in 2023, though this is the first time they will have a home game on international soil. Like the games in London, teams are beginning to see that playing in Germany is an inevitability.
Brazil Game
The NFL went to Brazil for the first time in 2024. The Green Bay Packers lost a thriller to the Philadelphia Eagles 34-29 to kick off the 2024 NFL schedule. Given the success of the game, it was inevitable that NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and the league would announce a return this season.
This season, the second regular-season game of the year will be played in Sao Paulo by the Kansas City Chiefs and the Los Angeles Chargers. Of the countries to see an NFL game played, Brazil has made for one of the most unique sports destinations.
Spain Game
For the first time, the NFL international games will expand to Madrid, Spain. It is the first time that Madrid will host NFL teams, seeing the Washington Commanders take on the Miami Dolphins at Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, the last of the home teams in these international games.
Given that this is the first time Spain will have an NFL game played, it is bound to get massive coverage from the sports media. The winning team will carve out a unique place in history as the first team to win an NFL game in Spain. There can only be one “first team” to earn a distinction like that, a place in league history that can’t be topped.
Key Storylines to Watch in the 2025 NFL International Series
The NFL international series is unique because it mostly features irregular matchups across the NFL schedule. One game will feature a matchup like the Vikings versus the Browns, while another will see rival teams like the Chiefs and Chargers play.
One of the more unique things to watch is how star players are received in these other countries. The games in London are particularly rowdy, especially when a superstar comes to town. The games in London, particularly Wembley Stadium, will feature no shortage of star power.
This is also the most international games the league has ever scheduled for one season. How players travel for these international games will be crucial. The schedule can be challenging enough, especially for first-time visitors. Adjusting to other countries and still playing at a high level will be tough. The London games are maybe slightly different because the NFL has played there for several years, but it will still be tough.
How to Bet on the 2025 NFL International Games
Those in the sports betting community will be closely watching the schedule of NFL international games. The London games, not to mention the Germany, Ireland, Brazil, and Spain games, will present unique challenges. Here are a few tips to consider.
Moneyline, Spread, and Over/Under
Before you place a wager, it is best to know how NFL betting works. Home teams tend to have an inherent advantage when it comes to the spread, which indicates who the favorite is and by how much they must win by to “cover.”
You could make things easier by choosing between the two NFL teams to declare an outright winner. Though the odds may not be quite as favorable, it is a more consistent way to pick winners during the season.
Finally, there is the over/under. Sportsbooks set point totals for each game across the league. Bettors must guess successfully each week whether a game will see the point totals go above (over) or below (under) the set number.
Prop Bets
Gaining steam not just for the games in London, Berlin, Ireland, etc., are prop bets. These wagers center on specific outcomes and actions as the game is played. Props can pertain to individual players or to teams and specific actions.
For instance, in the Wembley Stadium game, you may wager on Trevor Lawrence of the Jaguars to throw for more than 250 passing yards. Players on both teams have over/unders set on their individual statistics, allowing the bettor to wager on things like receptions, yardage, and touchdowns.
Live Betting Strategies
Live betting has become more prevalent in recent years, especially in NFL circles. The international games are an excellent opportunity for casual bettors. The games in London, Germany, Ireland, Spain, and any of the other host countries tend to garner a bit more attention due to their early starts.
Each week, players can follow these NFL teams as they participate in the international games. As the league travels to these countries, bettors are capable of making bets throughout the game with changing odds throughout. Get to know the teams you are betting on, particularly home teams. Look for trends, analyze the schedule, and know when to pick your spots.
Betting Trends for Past NFL International Games
When looking at the NFL international games, bettors do the same thing they do week after week: look for trends. The past schedule, dominated by games in London (and Wembley Stadium), offers more than a bit of insight into how the two teams may perform.
Because of its robust history, London is the best example when looking at betting trends in these international games. After all, this is the first game in Berlin, Germany (others have been held in Frankfurt and Munich), the second in Brazil, and the first in Ireland. The league announced that Australia will join the list of international games as well.
Historically, the favorites do well when it comes to the moneyline (65.6%). The favorites also cover the spread 51.5% of the time, while the under has hit 18 of 34 times. This part of the NFL schedule is also unique because of the travel toll on the players. Both teams are impacted, and home teams garner no real “edge” because both sides are being hosted.
Expert Picks for the 2025 NFL International Games
When looking at the league's international schedule, there are a few games that jump out as providing value to bettors. Given the Chiefs' recent successes, it would be wise to take them as a moneyline pick in the international season opener.
The Vikings have an underrated defense and should be one of those teams that fly under the radar in the coming season. The Steelers seem to be treading water, and the Browns are putrid, so the Vikings should be solid picks.
As the NFL moves through the London schedule, things become tougher. The Broncos' defense is gnarly, and Bo Nix has shown just enough to make you feel like he will get the win during the second week at Tottenham.
Finally, if you are looking for potential value, look no further than the matchup between the Commanders and Dolphins in Madrid. The Commanders will no doubt be the favorites, but the Dolphins are going to be a tough play this year. If they are underdogs going into the game, they would provide tremendous value.
Final Betting Tips for NFL International Games 2025
It is important to remember that, when betting on the NFL international games in London, Ireland, and elsewhere, home teams have no real advantage. What is normally an easy part of picking the schedule becomes much more muddied. But that happens whenever one of these international games is played.
