NCAAB upset watch: Ranked teams will go down this weekend

#7 Duke at Virginia, 6 p.m. ET (ESPN)

This year’s Blue Devils save all of their worst games for the worst opponents on the road. The good news for the 'Hoos (for Saturday, at least) is Virginia stinks.

Kyle Guy, De’Andre Hunter, and Ty Jerome will not be walking through the door at John Paul Jones Arena to hand Duke a loss. The big three’s departure from the national champions put Virginia behind the eight ball offensively, and the Cavaliers are 210th in offensive efficiency this season.

What they still have is Tony Bennett’s pack-line defense. Ranked fourth in defensive efficiency, they allow the fewest points in the nation (52.7 per game). They also have Mamadi Diakite in the post, the perfect player to neutralize Vernon Carey Jr.

With two losses in their last three games, this test will either give the Blue Devils momentum at the right time or send them into a free fall just before March Madness begins.

Arkansas at Georgia, 6 p.m. ET (SEC Network)

Mason Jones + Isaiah Joe + Anthony Edwards = a lot of points.

In just his second game back after knee surgery, Joe scored 22 points Wednesday night against Tennessee. He was one-upped by Jones, who put up 37 to retake the top spot as the SEC’s leading scorer. He’s now 22 points ahead of Edwards, Georgia’s future top five NBA Draft pick.

Edwards' days in college are numbered, but he’s coming off a 36-point performance at South Carolina. It’s hard not to like the over in this game, whatever the total, especially against a Tom Crean defense. Parlay that with Georgia and you could have a profitable evening.

#13 Seton Hall at Marquette, 2:30 p.m. ET (FOX)

Myles Powell and the Seton Hall Pirates could go on the road and get one step closer to winning a Big East regular-season title, but Markus Howard and Marquette will not be an easy hurdle to overcome in Milwaukee.

In a battle between the Big East’s top two scorers, Howard has the scoring title, home court, and a two-point advantage in KenPom rating, which is enough to convince me to pick the Golden Eagles.

#15 Auburn at #8 Kentucky, 3:45 p.m. ET (CBS)

Kentucky is 181-10 at Rupp Arena under John Calipari and 21-5 at home against teams in the AP Top 25, but Auburn can buck the trends.

The Tigers have already taken down UK once this year, and they can provide a matchup nightmare with Austin Wiley in the paint, flanked by competent guards who can keep up with Immanuel Quickley.

If there was a time to find value picking against UK at home, the time is now.
