The long-awaited arrival of March Madness is officially here and set to wreak havoc on Indianapolis, the exclusive site of this year's NCAA tournament.
Following a chaotic 2020-21 season, which saw powerhouses like Kentucky wallow in misery and the Big Ten dominate the college basketball landscape, this year's tournament should be as unpredictable as any we have seen in recent memory.
Undefeated Gonzaga will enter as the No. 1 overall seed and attempt to prove the perennial contender can finally get over the hump and win an NCAA title.
On the other side of the bracket, Big 12 behemoth Baylor will try to right its late-season issues and cruise to the national championship game, set for Monday, April 5.
While the top dogs of the tournament pull plenty of headlines, March Madness is nothing without those sentimental Cinderella stories.
No. 6 San Diego State, No. 8 Loyola Chicago, and No. 13 Liberty have all experienced a spark of madness in Big Dances past. Joining them on the quest for a magical run this tournament is No. 15 Iona and first-year head coach Rick Pitino, who briefly stepped away from college basketball in 2017 amid scandal at the University of Louisville.
