Inconsistency has plagued Arsenal
Arsenal’s up-and-down season has them residing in 10th place in the table (28 points). The Gunners are just three points back of seventh place, in a crowded pack in the middle of the standings. Arsenal needs production from Alexandre Lacazette and Nicolas Pépé if it wants to get into Champions League positioning, and the Gunners need their defense to be more consistent. David Luiz, Sokratis, and Calum Chambers must do better, and the guys in the middle need to take care of the ball. If they can be consistent, they will have the edge.
They don’t score a lot of goals, but their defense has been stellar. They are tied with Leicester City for second fewest goals allowed this season (21). They will need some offense against Arsenal, and they’ll look to Lys Mousset, John Fleck, and Oli McBurnie to provide it. Arsenal will continue its inconsistent play. Its defense has been lackluster and poor play in the middle has led to costly turnovers. It will cost them points in this one, as well. The Gunners will take the lead but will give it up in the second half on a giveaway that Sheffield United will pounce on.
