Monday's Star of the Night:
After his career performance last night against the Charlotte Bobcats, LeBron James definitely deserves this honor as Monday's Star of the Night. The Bobcats have now given up the two highest point total of the season to both Carmelo Anthony (62) and now LeBron James (61). Typically LeBron is more of a distributor than a 3-point shooter, but you are feeling it than everything goes in for you. LeBron hit 8 of 10 from downtown and shot a whopping 22 for 33 from the field (66.7%). As within the context of the Miami Heat's offense, LeBron put on a show in South Beach setting his career high in points as well as the Heat's all-time single game record. For those of you who thought the MVP race was in Durant's back pocket after his incredible month of January, you might want to hold those votes until we see what else LeBron can do to win his trophy for the 5th time. Now I still believe that Durant should be the MVP at this point, he and the Thunder need to finish with a better record than the Heat, and Durant needs to replant his name in everyone's head with a phenomenal March. This race is heating up and watching LeBron put on the kind of performance he did last night was fun to watch.
Other Notable Performances:
- Al Jefferson - In the shadow of LeBron's career night, Al Jefferson put on a show in the first half against the Heat ultimately ending the game with 38 points and 19 rebounds. He tallied the second highest FanEx point total with 59 points as he continues his record setting year with the Bobcats.
- Kevin Love - Right behind Al Jefferson was the great play from Kevin Love who alomst matched Jefferson's stat line finishing with 33 points and 19 rebounds totally to 56 FanEx points. Love and Jefferson are legit fantasy studs and should be in everyone's lineups when they are playing.
- Ty Lawson - Lawson returned from injury with a bang dropping 31 points and dishing 11 assists against the Timberwolves. It is good to see Lawson return to action and produce right away, and with Lawson back in the mix Randy Foye's value takes a hit down.
- Tyreke Evans - Evans has returned back to his rookie year numbers over the last two games with the stat lines of 22-9-5 and 27-10-8 last night. Evans is currently at a great value and look for him to continue that ht hand tonight against the short-handed Lakers.
- Tyreke Evans - As stated above, Tyreke has been riding a hot hand over the last two games and he plays a Lakers team that is banged up and hands fantasy points away to opposing teams. Look for Tyreke to reach value again tonight at a price of $27.
- Russell Westbrook - The Thunder play the Philadelphia 76ers, possibly the worst team in the league, and Westbrook has finally found his stride within the Thunder's offense. While this game may very well be a blowout after the first half, Westbrook could still see some decent minutes to be able to reach value. This match-up is a nice one for all Thunder players including Kevin Durant.
- Tony Parker - Tony returned form injury over the weekend and seemed to be fresh and healthy as ever. The Spurs play a Cleveland team that is suspect on the defensive end and the Spurs are picking up their stride as we close in on the end of the season. Look for Parker to go head to head with Kyrie and splice up the Cleveland defense.
- Lakers Starters - The Lakers are a fantasy nightmare with all of the injury's and Mike D'Antoni's magically chairs act with who is in his dog house and who isn't. I feel comfortable in saying that the starters will stay the same tonight against the Pelicans after last night's big win, so look for Gasol, Bazemore, Meeks, Marshall, and Johnson to all put up decent number.
