The Cowboys and Giants resume one of the greatest rivalries in the NFL on Monday night when the two teams meet at MetLife Stadium. Dallas has historically owned this matchup, posting a 67-46-2 record since 1960, and come in as heavy favorites over the sputtering Giants, who have lost four straight and rank a distant 28th in total defense.

We have odds and analysis for that NFC East grudge match as well as all of the biggest Week 9 trends and storylines from around the National Football League.

Chicago Bears vs. Philadelphia Eagles

The Chicago Bears dropped their third straight loss in heartbreaking fashion, after Eddy Pineiro botched a 41-yard game-winning field goal as time expired. Pineiro had experienced a similar high-pressure situation earlier in the season but nailed the 53-yarder with the clock winding down to give Chicago a 16-14 victory over Denver in Week 2.

Now 3-4, the Bears lost their latest to the volatile L.A. Chargers, 17-16 at home. In Mitch Trubisky’s second game back from a dislocated shoulder, he completed 65.7% of his passes for 253 yards, no scores and one interception. He also committed a costly fumble in the fourth quarter that led to the Chargers’ win-clinching touchdown.

"He has no confidence at all in what he’s doing. He looks scared, he’s missing wide open passes, something happened inside his ears this offseason that made him a much worse quarterback than he was last year." -@PatMcAfeeShow on @Mtrubisky10 pic.twitter.com/Iy1x5Bf4fc

— Pat McAfee Show Quotes (@PatMcAfeequotes) October 27, 2019
The bright spot for the Bears was David Montgomery, who re-emerged for 135 yards rushing and one TD after accumulating just six yards on the ground against New Orleans in Week 7.

The Bears visit another struggling team on Sunday, the 4-4 Philadelphia Eagles. In Week 8, Philly managed to pull off a road victory over defensive force Buffalo to snap a two-game skid. Carson Wentz connected on 17-of-24 passes for 172 yards and one touchdown, while running backs Jordan Howard, Miles Sanders and Boston Scott each ran into the end zone for scores.

The Eagles held Frank Gore to 34 yards on nine carries and the Bills rushing attack to a combined 98. Philly allowed Josh Allen to complete two touchdown passes, but the pass rush flustered the second-year QB, who fumbled the ball three times and got sacked another four.

The Eagles are five-point home favorites against the Bears and are 5-1 against the spread in the last six games following an ATS win. The Bears are 1-4 ATS following an ATS loss and 0-4 ATS in their last four meetings with Philadelphia.

Minnesota Vikings vs. Kansas City Chiefs

The two-loss Minnesota Vikings head to Arrowhead Stadium for a potentially favorable matchup with Kansas City on Sunday. The Chiefs played their first full game without Patrick Mahomes in Sunday’s 31-24 loss to the Packers, though the 2018 MVP was back on the practice field last week after dislocating his knee in Week 7.

Backup Matt Moore got the start against Green Bay and kept the Chiefs offense flowing smoothly. Moore completed 24 of his 36 passes for 267 yards and two touchdowns, but the run game held Kansas City back once again.

LeSean McCoy racked up 40 yards on nine carries, and Damien Williams added 30 and a score. Travis Kelce and Mecole Hardman each recorded touchdown receptions, but KC came up short after Aaron Rodgers made a 67-yard touchdown pass to put the Packers up 31-24 in the fourth quarter.
Green Bay’s defense has looked beatable the last few games, but Minnesota’s is a different story. The Vikings boast a top five defensive unit and allow the third-fewest points per game in the league (16.5).

Minnesota pulled off a 19-9 victory on Thursday Night Football against the 1-7 Washington Redskins. Kirk Cousins connected on all but three of his 26 passes for 285 yards but failed to score. Dalvin Cook and Stefon Diggs again enjoyed stellar performances, as Cook rushed for 98 yards and a touchdown, and Diggs accounted for 143 yards on seven catches.

The Vikings are 4-0 against the spread in their last four following an ATS win, and the Chiefs are 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall. Kansas City is also 1-4 ATS in its last five home games.

Cleveland Browns vs. Denver Broncos

Two floundering teams face each other Sunday, when the 2-5 Cleveland Browns visit Mile High Stadium to play the 2-6 Broncos.

The Browns are coming off an embarrassing 27-13 defeat to the New England Patriots, in which Baker Mayfield threw an interception, was sacked five times and running back Nick Chubb lost two fumbles (one returned for a Patriots touchdown).

Cleveland also committed 13 penalties for a loss of 85 yards and allowed New England to convert on fourth down twice.

The underperforming Browns have a chance to spark some momentum with an easier upcoming schedule, starting with the Broncos in Week 9. Denver suffered a road loss in Indianapolis on Sunday and led the entire game until the last 22 seconds.

Adam Vinatieri kicked a 51-yard field goal to give the Colts a 15-13 victory in a battle mostly decided by the kickers. The only two scores came on a four-yard run by the Broncos’ Royce Freeman in the third quarter and a 10-yard run by Indy’s Marlon Mack in the same quarter.

The Broncos head into Sunday’s matchup as two-point home favorites but are 1-4 ATS in their last five games following an ATS win and 1-5 ATS in their last six home games versus a team with a losing road record.

San Francisco 49ers vs. Arizona Cardinals

Thursday, October 31, 8:20 p.m. ET | University of Phoenix Stadium

The undefeated San Francisco 49ers annihilated the Carolina Panthers, 51-13, inside Levi’s Stadium in Week 8. San Francisco’s run game exploded for 232 yards, as Tevin Coleman collected 105 on 11 carries and reached the end zone three times.

Raheem Mostert added 60 yards and a touchdown on nine carries and rookie Deebo Samuel tacked on a score as well. Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo also threw for two touchdowns and completed 81.8% of his passes against the Panther’s top-five pass defense.

Next up for the 49ers is a 3-4-1 Arizona team that had its three-win streak snapped by the New Orleans Saints on Sunday. In Drew Brees’ return from a five-game absence, the Saints lit up the Cardinals defense for 510 yards of offense and four touchdowns.

The Cardinals could barely produce any yardage on the ground, with David Johnson sidelined with an ankle injury. On Monday, the Cardinals announced a trade for running back Kenyan Drake of the Miami Dolphins in exchange for a conditional 2020 draft pick, and hope the Alabama product can help bolster Arizona’s offense.

The 49ers rank first in yards per game allowed (224.4) and second in scoring defense (11 points per game). Arizona, on the other hand, is one of the league’s worst defenses and gives up 407.1 yards per game and 27.9 points per contest.

New England Patriots vs. Baltimore Ravens

Sunday, November 3, 8:20 p.m. ET | M&T Bank Stadium

Another undefeated squad, New England, receives a prime-time matchup against the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday Night Football.

The Pats earned coach Bill Belichick his 300th win in Sunday’s 27-13 beating of the Browns, as New England’s historically dominant defense carried the team on its shoulders.

Tom Brady on Bill Belichick earning his 300th career win:

"The only thing better than 300 is 301. We'll be back at it next week."#Patriots @wpri12 pic.twitter.com/DLypvzMmQ1

— Ruthie Polinsky (@ruthiepolinsky) October 28, 2019

By the end of the first quarter, the Pats had already gained a 17-0 lead, behind a Mike Nugent field goal, Julian Edelman touchdown and a fumble return by linebacker Dont’a Hightower.

On Thursday, the Patriots face arguably their first true test of the season against the 5-2 Ravens. The Browns crushed Baltimore earlier in the year, but since then, the Ravens have assembled a three-win streak, with victories over the Steelers, the winless Bengals and at the Seahawks.

The Patriots enter this game on a short week, while Baltimore has the luxury of coming in fresh off a bye.

The Ravens boast the No. 1 rushing offense (204.1 YPG) and No. 3 rushing defense (84.3 YPG). The Patriots still continue to search for a solution on offense and have mostly leaned on Julian Edelman in the receiving game.

New England is a 3.5-point road favorite and is 5-1 against the spread in its last six road games. The Ravens are 1-5 ATS in their last six games overall and 0-6 ATS in their last six home games. The road team is also 6-1-1 ATS in the last eight meetings between the Patriots and Ravens.

Dallas Cowboys vs. New York Giants

Monday, November 4, 8:15 p.m. ET | MetLife Stadium

The Dallas Cowboys look to extend New York’s losing streak to five in a road trip to MetLife Stadium on Monday Night Football.

The Giants collected loss No. 6 of the season against the Lions on Sunday in a 31-26 defeat. Quarterback Daniel Jones went 28-of-41 for 322 yards and four touchdowns but needed more help from the run game. Saquon Barkley garnered just 64 yards on 19 carries in his second game back from injury, but he caught eight passes for 79 yards and one score.

Jones also had trouble taking care of the ball, as he committed a pair of fumbles, with one returned for a touchdown in the first quarter. The rookie has now fumbled the ball eight times this season, just one shy of Gardner Minshew’s league-leading nine.

Jones lost his first fumble of his NFL career against Monday night’s opponent. In Week 1, he entered the fourth quarter and lost the ball on his only drive in the Cowboy’s 35-17 victory over New York.

The Cowboys last won against the Eagles, 37-10, in Week 7 and lead the NFC East with a 4-3 record. Dallas is currently the only winning team in its division.

The Cowboys are 7.5-point favorites on the road and 5-0 in their last five games against the Giants. The favorite is also 4-1 ATS in the last five, and the Giants are just 1-5 ATS in their last six home games.

Get to Know Aaron Jones

Aaron Jones made history over the weekend by becoming the first Packers running back since 1970 to record over 150 receiving yards. Here are three things you need to know about Green Bay’s dual threat RB:

  • Jones was a three-sport star at Burges High School in El Paso, Texas, where he was a member of the 1600m relay state championship team and was an All-City selection in basketball.
  • Jones made quite the first impression at UTEP, where he ran for 127 yards and scored two touchdowns in his first game with the Miners.
  • Jones led the Packers with four rushing touchdowns during his rookie season despite starting just four games.

NFL Audibles

This game can be beautiful and it can also be brutal. Absolutely gutted that I won’t be able to finish the season with my guys and give the fans what they deserve. I truly love this game and can’t stand letting you guys down. Thank you for all of the thoughts & well-wishes.

— JJ Watt (@JJWatt) October 28, 2019

The Texans' playoff hopes took a serious hit on Sunday when Houston defensive end J.J. Watt tore his pectoral muscle in a win over Oakland. The three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year will miss the remainder of the season.

Don't go changing Gardner Minshew. We love you just the way you are.

Three and Out

Bill Belichick cemented his place in NFL history over the weekend by becoming just the third head coach to win 300 games. Here are three other records held by the man affectionally known as "The Hoody":

  • Belichick is the only head coach to win six Super Bowl titles.
  • Belichick's career regular season winning percentage of .686 is the highest in NFL history.
  • Belichick is the only head coach in NFL History to guide his team to five seasons with 14 or more wins.
